UCSD Class of 2024 Waitlist

I wish it were as simple as internal lotteries and rankings. Colleges hire sophisticated third-party consulting firms to manage admissions analytics for them. I believe Ruffalo Noel Levitz handles the UCs https://www.ruffalonl.com/complete-enrollment-management/
Article about the phenom here. Scary excerpt…“Some privacy experts say colleges’ failure to disclose the full extent of how they share data with outside consultants may violate the spirit if not the letter of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA, a federal law protecting the privacy of student education records at schools that receive federal education funds. FERPA generally requires that schools ask for students’ permission before sharing their personal data with any outside parties. Rather than getting permission, some schools have classified the consulting companies as ‘school officials,’ a legal designation that exempts them from FERPA if certain conditions are met.”

I’m not understanding how that’s not fair lmao. The waitlist consists of all qualified applicants who weren’t able to get offered a spot. Meaning that everybody on that waitlist deserves to be on it no matter what the stats say, UCSD say something qualified and let them be waitlisted. You seem to forget that a person can be outright denied meaning they weren’t qualified enough. A lottery would the fairest thing as the waitlist consists of qualified applicants. Just hope for the best and hope favor falls upon you when the waves come out.

Guys, guys, none of that stuff matters. What matters is whether we get in or not. No point in stressing over what’s fair and what isn’t. amirite boys :]

UCSB released another wave today, UCLA is releasing waves as well. Does anyone know if there has been an SD waitlist?

@krispey There was an SD wave on the 28th, before the SIR deadline, nothing since though.

So does that mean ucsd will not read all of our applications, just the ones they pick randomly until freshmen space is filled?

we dont even know if there is going to be another wave

way to be positive bro??best of luck to all my fellow applicants

UCSD definitely has to have couple, maybe 10, or 20 more waves so we’re all happy.
ez :]

@user_8089110 What makes you so sure haha?

Wishful thinking lmao. They just needa release decisions by now for the second wave.

To be honest, at this point I only want to know so I can rest knowing which university I go to. I didn’t wait 3 and a half months to get waitlisted and wait 3 and a half more months, I just wanna know

Does people from your high school declining their admissions to go to schools they got off the waitlist for increase your chances at all or is it completely not based on high school number of acceptance?

I don’t think it is based on the number of students who are going at your high school

Honestly, that’s why I am waiting too. It’s just too stressful having to wait while being uncertain of which university to go to even if you have already committed.

I emailed their admissions office and they told me that the waitlist is not ranked

Bro when I read this, I didn’t pay attention to the “ranked” part at first so basically my heart sunk because I thought it was gonna say not available or something like that anymore. You scared mehhh lmao

Has anyone gotten in thus far for Molecular and Cell Biology? I’m still waiting:/

Also are people slowly getting off the waitlist every day or is there “waves” and does anyone know when the “waves” are? (like on Fridays ??)

No clue. At this moment, it’s neither slowly getting off nor waves. No word on anything yet. There was a wave on 4/28, but that’s all we’ve got.
