I really hope that the thing about them releasing decisions today is true, since I have been checking the portal multiple times a day for over a month.

I got one of those emails. I applied to UCLA, UCSD, UCI and UCB.
I was accepted to UCI a while ago but… man. Im missing pre-reqs for UCSD and UCLA and one for Berkeley. My CC counselors didnt differentiate between recommended and required so… we shall see.

major: philosophy/alternate: religious studies (i plan on double-majoring anyway!)
GPA: 3.93 (one B, otherwise As)
major GPA: 4.0
extracurriculars: group instructor for symbolic logic class at my california CC, TA for my department chair, merit scholarship for philosophical research paper, philosophy club participation, math/english tutoring for my nephew with learning disabilities.
personal statements: essentially centered around my love for philosophy and interest in studying it at the graduate level, as well as being a first-generation college student and aspiring professor, etc. i really enjoyed writing both prompts so i hope that this is evident in my essays.
pre-reqs: not really sure about these. i took what was available to me besides a fall-only ancient phil survey & i’m slated to take ethics this summer if i get into a UC. so i have intro, critical thinking, logic, and world religions.
i wasn’t admitted to UCSB so i’m terrified. i’ll have my math and science IGETC requirements done this spring.

Try telling that to a prospective CS major. I have a high GPA, but I’m missing several prereqs. Considering the impacted status and that students need a 4.0 to declare CS from within UCSD–I have little hope.
@microt ah… true. I forgot about impacted majors. GPA matters the most for non-impacted majors.

A joke - huh? Do you think that getting people’s hopes up is funny??? My eye is already twitching after a month of waiting and stressing out. If you don’t get accepted, I will laugh then. Maybe even hysterically. Because THAT would be funny.
