UCSD Fall 2017 Transfer Thread

@gabyitzelq1 You seem to have a good GPA, esp for a non impacted major. Maybe contact admissions and see what they have to say. Ask if you have any notes for rejection.

@otoribashi transfer admissions don’t affect most rankings right?

@kimjongtim I got in math w 3.9, i even got a B for Cal3, im finishing all requirements and igetc in this spring tho.

Public Health
Jacobs School of Engineering – all majors in these departments:

Note: A capped major is not the same as a major requiring pre-major status.

I was also rejected with a 4.0 from the bay area for econ…maybe they just chucked the bay area kids out because they have less of a chance of attending…one of my friends last year got regents at cal for cs, rejected from la, davis and sd…it could be just a yield game.

@UCLAorUCBTRNSFR yield does i believe. so lets say they admit a lot of highly qualified applicants who will otherwise attend a more prestigious school. then UCSD’s yield will be quite low. but if they admit a lot of qualified students who are not necessarily the most pampered/likely won’t apply/get admitted to other prestigious schools, then they will all more likely attend UCSD than another school since that will be like their most “prestigious” option (im using the word prestigious here but honestly that’s not the reason/only reason people choose to attend schools, it just makes the explanation clearer).

so if you look at rankings and see a school with a very high yield, that means a lot of students who apply want to attend. versus one with a low yield which shows the school isn’t that desirable.

@Motascol I got into UC davis with regents for my extracurriculars…I just think they believe I won’t attend…the UC’s are known for doing this. Hopefully Cal and LA will neutralize this

Rejected,CS major, GPA 3.58 , thx god I got accepted by my 1st choice UCI. Was going to reject the UCSD offer anyway. Don’t want to move down there. Kinda boring. Also, don’t want get involved with too many engineering staffs. Only UCI has the separate CS major college that doesn’t involved too many Engineering courses.

Accepted 4/21

Major: Spanish Lit
College: Marshall
Major Requirements: Fulfilled
IGETC: Completed
EC: Few clubs and work
Applied: UCSD, UCLA, UCB, UCSB, UCR
Accepted: UCSD, UCSB, UCR
Declined:

@gabyitzelq1 yes! Let’s meet up sometime! It looks like I’ll be going to UC Irvine and I want to meet new people!

Rejected
Major: Nanoengineering
GPA: 3.84 (3.7 for Major)
Pre-reqs done.
I’m in complete shock. I have no idea how to process this. I worked so hard for this, as did many of you, I’m sure.
At least I got accepted to Irvine. Still waiting on LA and Berkeley.

Im also really shocked @Aethen,
but my gpa is only 3.74 and im a mechE…
Irvine accepted me and I am waiting for UCLA

I lost hope cause UCSD didnt accept me no way in hell will UCLA

does anyone know when UCLA starts sending?

@maatouk Tomorrow, supposedly.

:frowning: I’m starting to feel really sad. Some of you guys worked really hard for this. I really hope that you guys get acceptances at UCLA and/or Cal bc you guys all deserve it. I’m sure wherever you go, you’re all gonna do amazing things, and being so much to whatever campus you decide to attend.

Not to get anyone’s hopes up but I work and am really good friends with a former UCSD admissions officer and she informed me that all the UCs have access to what UCs applicants have been accepted and denied from. So in principle you may have been accepted to a UC that is considered more favorable for you to go to (LA or Cal) and that may be a factor why UCSD denied you. Just sayin. All of you are incredibly awesome students and I wish you all the best!

Rejected
Major:CS
GPA:3:8 (4.0 for major)
All the pre-reqs done, good personal statements (had 3 different cal admission people review them), with alright EC’s.
Also from the Bay Area.
Seems like they didn’t have any room for any CS people this year.
Oh well, there’s still 2 unknown decisions left for the UC’s.

Yup, CS major here, also rejected.

3.7 GPA (4.0 Major).
Done with all pre-reqs too.

Guess I’m going to Davis.

To all of you who got rejected for Econ: did you guys put down an alternate major? I applied as an economic major but unfortunately was placed into my alternate major.
