UCSD Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

@smugguy90 I got flat rejected from UCLA and UCSD…LOL and I didn’t take any classes at 4 year.

Did everyone admitted get their financial aid package? Mine isn’t out yet so I’m just wondering if anyone is on the same boat. Congrats to everyone who got in!

@rockyc88 I’m really sorry that’s brutal. UCLA you never know because of how competitive it is, but your stats definitely should get you into UCSD alone. I would fight this hard and make sure you ask if there were any mistakes on your application or anything.

Accepted for Cog Sci!

Didn’t get my first major (computer science), which was expected. I’m doing a one year CC transfer and didn’t have time to complete the physics/math requirements that UCSD wanted for Computer Science.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to post again that I made a thread for all of us who were waitlisted. It seems like it was a huge chunk of people who applied… excited to see how this will pan out. Let’s all keep eachother updated http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-san-diego/2077843-ucsd-transfer-waitlist-2018.html

Also, I just want to say I’m pretty sure majority of people got waitlisted because they’re more likely to go to UCLA or Berkeley.

@dahworst I don’t care for either and haven’t applied to either and I’m still waitlisted. What’s all that about? :frowning:

Congrats to everyone who got in! I just called the financial aid office and financial aid packets will be released mid week next week! Also, did anyone else just receive a free plane ticket to fly down next week for triton day? I did and am super suprised that they are paying for plane tickets to come down. How awesome is that! Anyone else going?

@kylepunsal I just called and they said financial aid packets will be released sometime mid-week next week!

@collegetransfer890 That was probably one of the reason why others would get waitlisted, I believe. Also, I believe I got waitlisted because my major was more competitive and my gpa was eh. Why do you think you got waitlisted?

@collegetransfer890 also, if you really want to attend, i’d recommend that you do the appeal!!

I have no clue:( I haven’t seen many people post for public health so I know it’s capped but I thought I was pretty competitive. I had a 3.6 when applied that will go up when this semester is done. I am missing a few prereqs so that may be why but I’m trying to wrap my head around why SO MANY were waitlisted. I looked on the UCSD admit vs how many people actually went for my major last year and there was a gap of 60 spots so hopefully that will happen this year and we can get our spots

@dahworst people who are waitlisted can’t appeal so I just gotta wait it out

Questions for those of us waitlisted because it’s impossible to get anything but a busy tone from the admissions office for the forseeable future: First, is there any waitlist items (e.g. essay) that need to be completed or is it just sit and wait? Second, should I submit my transcripts to UCSD anyway, regardless of whether or not I get off the waitlist? If we will be potentially waiting until the end of July, as transfers, for an answer. A month notice is kind of pushing it when it comes to the logistics. Thanks.

Hey @Nickq34 there are no essays this year. Just the opt in button through your portal. I wouldn’t necessarily send transcripts unless the college is requesting them. The thread from last year for people waitlisted had a lot of people hear back at the end of May so we may be in luck
