E.C.: Leadership role at a local startup as a software engineer for about a year and counting, freelance developer, multiple published apps and websites.
I was denied from UCLA and UCSB, and waitlisted by UCI and UCB, pretty weird but relieved to be admitted to pretty much my top choice.

I have like 6 withdrawals since I was returning student from break bc of my financial struggles (maybe this is why?.. )
my top school was UCSD and now that I got denied from them it hurts so much right now… I felt confident that I could go in to SD with my GPA but… seems not. After keep getting denial letters, now I feel useless haha. Any comments on my stats? I will definitely appeal to UCSD

Admitted into Warren college for Economics (1st choice major and college)

CCC transfer (from Riverside City College)
Major: Economics
UC GPA: 3.82 (major GPA lower than that since I got a B in Calc I–my only other B was from a non-UCSD required econ class)
Pre-reqs: Calc III not done, otherwise last two currently in progress (Macroeconomics and Calc II)
IGETC: Completed
TAG: None
ECs: None other than some things from high school (a few clubs with 2 or 3 leadership positions, plus one national level award), I did mention some hobbies/interests (which might be considered “informal ECs” by some) in my PIQs though
Essays: Pretty good imo even though they were kind of rushed, writing is my strength and I feel I expressed myself and my story very well while answering the prompts efficiently
In-state (Riverside resident)
Accepted: CSULB, UCR (w/ Regents), CPP, UCI, UCSD
Denied: CSUSB (claimed I didn’t meet the English comp requirement lol…I used AP credit for it, only applied there as a safety school anyway)
I was rejected by all three colleges I applied to as a freshman two years ago (UCSD, UCI and UCR), so I’m happy to say that I was accepted by all three this time around. UCSD was my first choice at the time of application and my dream school in HS, but I SIR’d to UCR two days ago. While a part of me is a bit sad to be missing out on UCSD’s amazing economics department, I know I’ll be happy at UCR (it was my first choice for much of my time at CC, before UCSD was). That being said, I wish good luck to those waitlisted and to everyone else with the rest of your college journeys :x May we all grow and thrive as people no matter where we end up.
@onetoten were you part-time throughout CC? I’ve heard from counselors that UCs don’t really care about Ws (unless there’s a lot of them) but they do want to see consistent full-time status.
@onetoten how old are you/when did you grad from hs? i have no ecs since being in cc so i used my high school ones. did you leave that section blank? if you were part time, lots of w’s, and left that blank then maybe that could be why? other than that your application seems good, i’[m sorry /:

For anyone that got denied, or anyone trying to get in next year. I am sure that I was accepted for at least one of the following three reasons
- I was denied last year if that meant anything.
- I took loads of extra CS courses. Last summer I took CS61A at berkeley. I also took 2 extra CS courses in the fall. Thats three non required CS courses. I think they might have looked at that and figured I was very much well prepared.
- I had a really good essay.
I wonder when we find out about financial aid
