@ayylmaoooo I’m from the bay area. The email just stated that they are providing free flights to come down for Triton day next weekend. Super weird because I’ve never heard of that before but its a free plane ticket!
@AGGIES17 not that weird. I had the same offer last year. They make that to a few select students. Not sure if it is random or based on some criteria.
@NaniMata yeahi got rejected at Berkley too
Anyone else get invited to Breakfast with the Dean?
YAY guys I got accepted
Computer Science, Revelle College
3.7 GPA
IGETC: Done
Applied: UCSB, UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCI (tag)
Denied: UCSB, UCLA, UCB
Pending: UCI
Extracurriculars: Owned my own small software business working part-time, a lot of programming experience
I’m surprised I got rejected by UCSB and accepted into UCSD, seems very weird to me considering UCSD is a higher-tier UC
@bomnd college! I had club experience, conferences, internships, and basically all cs courses done as well as math/ (hope that helps!)
I’m sorry!!! Stay positive they will miss out. Now we Just need to be patient @jayshah12
@derekdakid yea, there’s really no rigid formula for college acceptances. your stats are reviewed by real people with their own opinions and moods and whatnot, so it’ll definitely vary and even seem off sometimes when you compare with the results of others. regardless, congrats on getting into the schools that you did!! since you’re posting here, are you committing to SD then?
@AGGIES17 someone correct me if i’m wrong, but apparently, that’s an invitational thing and you have to be nominated by a counselor/honors counselor to be offered the free flight, according to this thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1147007-is-this-fly-to-berkeley.html
for UCB at least. i’m not sure if it applies to SD as well! regardless, i would encourage any future transfers reading this to get to know your counselors so that they know you well enough to recommend you for this opportunity! i was not aware of this until i researched very recently.
When will we get our financial aid packages? Also will you guys be going to Triton Transfer day and for some reason my UCSD Transfer Checklist won’t let me log in. Is anyone else experiencing troubles logging in?
@smugguy90 whats that about taking credits at a 4 year university and getting automatically rejected if over credit limit? I’ve never heard anything like that before
Imma see yall at Cal
@rmutt1 what is speculative design? i got in for media but im realizing this is not what i want.
@onetoten dude same! I had a 3.7 GPA, and was pretty confident I was going to get in. Denied at every UC I applied to. UCD, UCSB, UCB, and UCLA. I’m appealing all except UCB. Also, some UC’s take late appeals if you’re interested. UCM accepted mine, waiting on UCR and UCI. Hopefully UCSD also takes them
@jinyung2 double check me, but from what I found out from a tag person was that you’re totally fine to get as many credits as you want at a CC but as soon as you have a single credit from a four year institution it takes away from your junior standing and the UC’s hate it. I had a buddy at school who is a prodigy, like should have gotten in anywhere. Got into all state schools he applied to and denied at every UC. 4.0 GPA engineering but he had credits from a 4 year institution he was at for a year from 6-7 years ago.
Hi, congrats on your acceptance,
i got admitted to the same major with a GPA of 3.3 , bioen:biotech was my alternaying major and my desired major was bioen:bioen , do you think is there a chance that they will enroll me to bioen since it is as just as equally competitive.
You should certaibly appeal. Your transfer gpa is perfect.
Got accepted to bioen; biotech (the most difficult major at UCSD) with a GPA of 3.3, can hardly believe it , i think they pushed the wrong button lol, oh i got denied at sdsu. Dont lose hope i didnt complete my OCs and phys 197 and didnt want to apply at all this semster, i just wanted to take a shot and it worked, good luck.
Hey @Sinsinattt !
I’m a current CS major at UCSD. As far as I know, it is usually possible to change your major within the same department (I did it after a quarter, from CS to CS: bioinformatics). You just need to talk to an advisor and they need to approve it. Just make sure to keep your GPA high! it is not that hard.
Hope it helps
@Sinsinattt I heard somewhere you’re allowed to change your major once in the Bioengineering department, and once back. I would confirm this with the BENG advisors.
