So maybe today after 5?
Today is probably the day! Best of luck to all and I hope we have the opportunity to meet each other on Triton day!
soooooo are we thinking like 30% chance its today and 70% chance friday?
If UCSD result comes out after UCLA and UCB then it would lose all it’s charm for those who get accepted to either of those two (even those who get spring admit or wait-list).
I think UCSD has lost a great opportunity for it’s 15 minutes of fame by delaying it’s result so much.
On a broader point, if UCs cannot pick a single date for all of them to release together then perhaps the order of release should be:
*) UCB, UCLA
*) UCSD
*) UCD, UCSB, UCI
*) UCSC
*) UCR, UCM
With a few days between each decision.
They should also link all the SIRs centrally so that if anyone SIRs to one UC automatically gets withdrawn from others. This will significantly improve the yield for all UCs.
As an example - If someone gets accepted at UCLA and submits the SIR then there is no need for UCD to send them acceptance.
Sure, some applicants may want to wait till the last UC decision to SIR, but that is what is happening even now. The UCs may give an incentive to SIR early (e.g. $1,000 towards tuition). It may be worth improving the yield. It will also reduce the workload on the admission staff because they will only be working with truly interested applicants.
@cricketfan central SIR doesn’t work, just because you SIR to one doesn’t mean you withdraw all your applications. . You can cancel an SIR you just lose your money. Some people will SIR while they wait on waitlists etc
@cricketfan I understand your points but I kind of disagree with you. I have compiled a list of expected college decision dates for the institutions I’ve applied to and I put “Don’t Care” for the date with Davis since I don’t really want to go there. However, I would still like to know I got accepted.
@AGuyWithAFry That’s me with UCSD except I obviously care a little bit cause I’m here. But if I’m admitted or not it doesn’t matter one bit.
@srafiq haha I actually love it! Fasting all day in Ramadan makes it even more tastier!
