UCSD Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

@collegetransfer890 Based on anecdotes from others, the weird scheduling for student volunteers to call, and the fact that this seems unprecedented, I’d agree that there was some kind of logistics screw-up at UCSD, either technical or other-systemic. That means there’s no real way to predict when they’ll finally release: it would depend entirely on getting that screw-up resolved and what the fall-out from it would be.

Just as a totally random example, think of how bad it would be if someone updating a bunch of apps accidentally miss-flagged a bunch of applicants as accepted when they shouldn’t have been (similar to last year’s screw-up at UCI). Correcting something like that might take a handful of people a week of manual review and could explain this kind of delay. I’m not saying his happened, but it’s not an unrealistic situation (again, see UCI last year).

I’m getting so frustrated (even when I usually consider myself a patient person). I get it, “the end of April,” but even so, releasing as late as the 26th (or perhaps even later)/ releasing the same date as Berkeley is just ridiculous. I hope @dstarfire is right in that there must have been some sort of screw-up that required manual correction. Otherwise, it’s just unreasonable for SD to release this late… Just my thoughts.

@booseoksoon honestly I agree. Given how parts of their website also still say, “mid-march to late april” which is a total lie at this point. Plus breaking all previous precedents set by not giving an early batch. And THEN not giving a set date or any update at all as to why it’s later than previous years. It’s very frustrating. I think if it doesn’t come out on Friday I’m gonna lose it.

Lol has anyone called admissions today? it’s becoming a ritual I feel

Why is it so absurd to release decisions the same day as UCLA or Berkeley?

What is calling admissions going to do

It’s an unspoken rule. It should go ucsd, ucla, then Berkeley. Ucsd has no right to release after them lol

CS major here 3.85 gpa, local. still waiting.Rejected from UCLA.

I will laugh if they decide to release on Monday lmao

Why do they have no right? All three are UC schools. None of them are Ivy League. So what makes them so different?

I honestly don’t think it is absurd that/if UCSD released after UCB, what I find bothersome is that they can’t give us a date. If i had a date and could just relax and not check every day I would personally not mind

@xxmilkywayxx1 ucsd releases it’s decision before ucla and cal every year. That’s just how it goes, they just messed up this year.

can you guys calm down? we applied in november KNOWING we wouldn’t hear back until the END of april (which still means we have a few days). the admissions office isn’t told all of the details that we want to know. maybe there was a technical problem! a lot of you guys are saying how they “lied” because they told us we would hear back from mid march to end of april. they didn’t lie, they were just anticipating?? it’s not rude of them to have us wait, WE KNEW WE HAD TO WAIT! they’re just doing their job and doing the best they can! i’m annoyed too because of the wait but gosh some of you guys are so impatient and entitled. just relax! we only have a few more days we’ve already waited this long…

Any UC can release a decision anytime they want, however, given that UCSB released it more than a month ago and UCLA (with 23,000 applications) released it yesterday makes one curious about what could be going on at UCSD.
I read somewhere on this thread that UCSD primarily only looks at GPA+Pre-Reqs+IGETC to make their transfer decision then I can surely imagine that they can use one of their smart CS student to write a program to automate this process and generate the list of applicants sorted by eligibility.
Even accounting for some manual checking of result, the entire process should take no more than a week.
3 months after TAU seems a bit much.

I agree that top tier should always release based on ranking: UCSD, then UCLA, then Berkeley. That’s how it was when I applied. That’s the universal guiding principle. UCSD is starting down a slippery slope that shows unwarranted hubris. It will be a long hard fall. [-X

UCSD needs to come out, I’m so sick of waiting, and we knew we signed up for end of April, but we were EXPECTING earlier, so expectations trump all (Trump) lol let’s get him on twitter bashing UCSD, maybe they’ll hurry up decisions then xD

I applied for structrual. Do you know if I get accepted, is it possible to change to mechanical?

Theyre probably reading this thread at admissions laughing at us  I know I would be if it was me :3

@OhHeyThere69 Or they’re panicking that we’re going to be accepted and then pull a French Revolution on them.

I think we’re allowed to freak out a bit considering Triton day is in a little more than a week. I personally would love to plan that as soon as possible if I’m even accepted. If they want to take this long that’s FINE but at least send out a notification to let us know what’s going on instead of leaving us in the dark. That’s respectable
