UCSD Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Waitlisted

Major: Computer Science
GPA: 3.8
IGETC: done by spring
Pre-req: none of cs classes articulate, but did java
Accepted: UCI (tag), UCSC
Rejected: UCD, UCSB

@gumbymom Sorry, let me rephrase, “Do we need to pay the SIR fee, if we are admitted off the waitlist in June?”

I’m really happy for everyone. If anyone lives in the Inland Empire and doesn’t have a ride or is waitlisted for Triton Day, I’d be happy to carpool. I reserved spots for 4 people but my parents are going to Hawaii without me apparently so…I’m here if ya’ll need help or whatever lol.

Accepted!!
Polisci in Warren
GPA: 3.85
1 year CCC Transfer (will have 60 units by end of spring)
Applied: UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCB, USC, Sac State
Accepted: UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCSB, Sac State
Rejected: TBA
Pending: USC (SGR)

@crazymantis No, the college ranking in the application does not affect acceptance because each college reviews your application. They go from the order in which you ranked them on your application. For example, if you put Roosevelt as your #1, Roosevelt will review your application and if they think you’re a good fit, they will keep you and you’ll be accepted there. If they don’t think you’re a fit, they’ll send your application to the next college on your list (and that process continues until someone picks you for their college).

@tacoturnup: Yes, you will have to pay the SIR fee if you decide to attend UCSD if you are accepted off the waitlist and will forfeit any fee’s paid at the other school you SIR by June 1. If for any reason, you are accepted off the transfer waitlist prior to June 1 and you have not SIR’d to another school, then you would only pay that one SIR enrollment fee.

Accepted - Revelle College (yikes… humanities)
Major: General Biology
GPA: 3.3 (yikes got lazy towards the end tbh)
Essays: IMO strong
CCC Transfer (Palomar College)
Applied: UCD UCSD UCI UCLA
Accepted: UCD, UCSD, (UCI PENDING)

My teen accepted!

Gender Studies 3.89

work plus lots of EC, non-academic awards, volunteering and community college sports

Accepted to all UCs applied! UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCD, UCI

Feeling incredibly blessed!

Thanks so much to everyone on college confidential! You all have been full of so much resources and support!

Really loves UCSD the best, but they did not give them much money, except for CAL Grant-same money as UCSC

UCD and UCLA gave a little more money

but UCB gave them a merit scholarship!!! called the Berkeley Transfer Scholarship, which will cover more than 1/2 of housing so they are really thinking of going there even though they are local. So surprised by this because I often hear there is no money for transfers and that it mostly goes to freshman.

Did anyone receive a scholarship from ucsd?

Accepted!
Major: Sociology with an emphasis in Law and Society
GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Completed
Major: Completed
AA-T: Completed
CC: COC

Got it, thanks.

I’m so confused on why I got rejected… I meet all the requirements? And people lower than my gpa got on the waitlist for my major?

Accepted

College: Muir (was first choice, so thrilled about that!)
Major: Mathematics
GPA: 3.33 (3.5 after this semester)
Local: No
IGETC: Completed
Pre-requisites: Completed
Honestly, I think extra curriculars & awards combined with my personal life in my personal statements played a major factor for me. Also, while I’m not sure if UC’s ever consider this… while my GPA was low, I never received lower than a B in any courses so perhaps they are more considerate of low GPAs if you didn’t retake anything or get Cs?
ECs: won several debate tournaments, 300+ hours of service, 2 years treasurer for a club, youngest figure competitor in nation, owned a training business, worked 4 total jobs, math TA/grader for 2 years
Other: 2 associates degrees in math & art, 12 AP exams

Applied: UC Berkeley (accepted), UCSD (accepted)

I got accepted today, but the financial aid page says that my financing plan isn’t available because I either a) didn’t file for FAFSA (I did), b) UCSD wasn’t included on my FAFSA (it was), or c) some information didn’t match between my FAFSA and UC application (pretty sure it’s all good). So far, it has worked for all of the other UCs I was accepted to. Anyone have any idea why this could be happening? Or what my next move should be to start working on a fix? Or maybe they haven’t released the financial aid info yet like UCI? Thanks for any help!

And in case it helps anyone:

Accepted into Revelle

@mathislife Congrats!

You are so lucky that you got accepted by UCB given your GPA.

Accepted in my alternate major Environmental Engineering at Warren College, but my first choice is Bioengineering. To be honest, I only picked the alternate major because they were asking for it. Is there any chance for me to change to Bioengineering major if I accept their offer? If so, how does the process look like?

I am a little upset right now since UC San Diego is my dream school :frowning:

Accepted! at Revelle ( is that good? tbh I have no idea what these college are about) for
ECE: Computer Engineering !
Should i Choose UCSD or SDSU?

@sagaciousforever Thank you! I am truly grateful considering how rare my situation happens

Hey guys. So if we want to change the major we were admitted into to a different non-impacted major, that’s relatively straight forward right? Compared to the capped majors?
