@transferrrrrrcc I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone’s acceptance say Regents on them? It might be on your financial aid page. I think they usually do Regents for transfer students.
@ucdochopeful2k19 Are you able to call and ask why you might have been rejected?
I need help
I was accepted as a sociology major however I am trying to change my major to psychology. To my knowledge psychology is not a capped major, but it does not appear as an option in the applicant portal. Does anyone know who I should contact to help me with this?
Hi all, I got accepted into Psych B.A. but now I think I want to change to a Psych B.S., do you think it will impact my acceptance? I’m a first generation and this is all sort of confusing to me.
Does anyone know how to start signing up for classes after you do the check list and make the deposit? I figured after doing that there would be new info in the portal to start moving things along. But nothings changed
@scoobybrew I SIR’d for Davis and have the checklist and stuff but I won’t be registering for classes until orientation in August, UCSD might do it differently but do you have a tab to sign up for orientation or anything like that? Because it might tell you there
@embth7 I think that they notify you of scholarships on May 1st at least thats what they say on the website https://fas.ucsd.edu/types/scholarships/entering-transfer-students.html . I’m waiting on it as well
I got into UCSD for Molecular and Cell Biology in Marshall College and into UCI for Biological Science. To be completely honest idk where to go. I want to go to graduate school but I’m not sure if I want to do med school or pharm school, and I heard having a high GPA is really important for any grad school. UCSD is more competitive and cutthroat fro what I’ve heard and the social life isn’t great there. I have friends at UCI who love it there and I have friends who say UCSD can be kinda boring. I haven’t visited either campus but i will soon. What should I do???
Just declined and SIR’d to UCLA. Hopefully this opens a spot for someone on the CS waitlist.
@oofwhatamood both schools are extremely competitive! Go where you feel most comfortable and happy and I would definitely recommend visiting both schools before deciding. You can’t go wrong with either school but I definitely prefer UCSD to UCI because there’s much more to do in SD than in Irvine.
@tinedancer thanks for the response, I figured it out. They sent me an email saying that in the next 2 business days they will send me a link. Oh and I forgot to state that I was trying to sign up for Summer classes at UCSD, I think Fall courses for UCSD wont be available until later like you said.
Anyone going to Transfer Triton Day? Also, what are all of y’all’s plan for housing? Off campus or on campus for transfers?
I might, but not positive. I’m assuming its gonna be more beneficial for those living on campus etc… I live a commutable distance north of Campus, and have great roommates so it’s not worth moving closer for me. I do know SD pretty well if you aren’t familiar with it and want to know good areas to live off campus.
@notjayflo thanks for the advice!! I’ll definitely visit soon but do you know if the social life at UCSD really is dead??? After staying at home for 2 years and doing nothing but studying I hope to have somewhat of a social life when I transfer.
@uctransfer947 I think I forgot to respond to this… why would changing between Engineering Majors be more difficult? I would imagine it’s easier to change from one engineering major to another than trying to change from a non-capped non Engineering major into an Engineering major. From current students I’ve heard trying to get into the Engineering Department is far harder than trying to transfer from one Engineering Major to Another Engineering major.
I live in the SD area too @Scoobybrew! But I live more near the SDSU area so I am thinking I would definitely move up closer to UCSD. I’m thinking of renting out a room in house again like I did this year but I really want to hear back from UCI’s waitlist first. This whole waiting game is rough hahaha
@HereForOneThing I figured it out! Apparently I sent my FAFSA to University of San Diego (010395) rather than to University of California, San Diego (001317). Different schools…lol. I guess it happens every year to a lot of people. Easy mistake! Maybe this is what happened for you, as well? It’s an easy thing to fix in the FAFSA application. Hope this helps!
Unfortunate !!! Triton day is May 11 which is exactly the same day as Bruin day. Ugggg. Can only go to one. So Bruin day it is. Please post how Triton day went. Thx!

Definitely plan on going to Triton day since UCSD is the school that I’m most likely going to commit too. Never actually visited the campus so I’m looking forward to it. Really unfortunate how its on the same day as Bruin day!
Is anyone else planning to study abroad? If you are, when do you think you’ll go?
Does anyone see any required transfer days/transfer orientations that might be for registration of classes during the summer?
