UCSD or stay at CC for Berkeley? (English Major)

I’m in a dilemma. I was rejected from UC Berkeley (and all UCs) after making a mistake on my application. I sent in an appeal and was rejected again, but was accepted to UCSD (I’m still waiting to hear from UCI). I have a 3.98 GPA and was VP of an academic club, assistant blog editor for my CC’s lit magazine, a member of a political organization, and a teacher’s aid at an elementary school. Not sure why I got rejected, but it happened nonetheless.

Now, my options are to go to UCSD for Literature/Writing (I’m an English major), or stay another year at my CC and reapply, making sure I make no more mistakes. I’ve heard that lit classes at UCSD are small because it’s more of a science school, making it easier to build relationships with professors, much like in a small liberal arts college. And UCSD’s campus is beautiful, much better than UCB. But UC Berkeley has one of the best english programs in the country. Should I move on or stay another year at my CC? I’m hoping to find a career in publishing and so, if I stay, I plan on becoming more involved with the literary magazine and focusing on improving my writing. Possibly get an internship with one of the small publishing companies here. If I go, I’ll be experiencing new things, places, and people, which I’ve been wanting for the longest time.

What should I do? …

Give UCSD a chance.
