UCSD or The New School?

I’m currently choosing between UCSD and Eugene Lang the New School for Liberal Arts. I doubt I will spend the whole 4 years in either school (they’re not my top choices) unless I end up falling in love with either one.

If I am looking to transfer after freshman year - I’ve heard that all classes for freshmen at UCSD are large lectures, so it’ll be pretty hard to get a good recommendation letter. On the other hand, Lang has a drastically lower ranking and reputation, but all classes are seminar so the rec letter won’t be a problem.

But then again, Lang has a really narrow selection of classes (mostly humanities oriented, no sciences/maths, business) and I might be interested in exploring a bit of business or maybe computer science, even though I’m a lit major. Not that UCSD has a business major either, but they have related courses.

I wasn’t very wise with my application choices, so for now I’ve got to go with either one.

Why not go to CC if you plan to transfer at either school.

Why should go to a community college if I plan to transfer?

Also fyi, I’m an international student.

Because if you plan to transfer anyway, why not?

You should definitely consider community college for your first year. If that’s not something you want to do, I would probably go to the New School because you will get the experience of living in NYC and making connections, and the teachers will definitely help you in applying somewhere else.
