<p>I want to go on the premed track and looking to major in Chemical Engineering. From what I’ve heard, its hard to mantain a high GPA at UCSD and people recommend I go to Davis and do well there. Is chemical engineering really that competitive/hard that I can’t mantain a good GPA at UCSD?</p>
<p>Generally speaking it’s not easy to maintain a high GPA in any engineering program anywhere. Davis will not be any earier than UCSD and both have very good engineering programs.</p>
<p>But why do you want to major in chemical engineering if you really want to go to medical school? It’s not necessary to do that, and if you are thinking of becoming an MD in order to work on medical devices, it’s not necessary to do that either.</p>

<p>I second that. If you go to a lesser-ranked school thinking the competition will be easier, you’ll be sorely mistaken.</p>
