UCSD - Should I apply

What are my chances for UCSD with a 3.84 GPA?
I have scored a 30 on the ACT, but it is a 31 score if UCSD accepts a SuperScore.
My ECs are solid with leadership, varsity sports, and community services.
By the time I graduate in 2014, I will have taken 4 APs and 4 Honors classes.

Apply man! Don’t regret it. There really is nothing to lose

Thanks - but what are they looking for?

What if you have a 3.70 UW AND 4.20 weighted?

Strong ECs background with:

4-year cross country
2 year track distance
3 years FRC FIRST robotics which won the Sacramento Regional and placed in the top 50 for our division at the World Championships
Cricket Club president 2 years
Summer internship junior year at Software Ultimo
Yoga Club Vice President 1 year
Science club fundraising commissioner 1 year and Secretary 1 year
Tutoring elementary school kids over summer
Relay for life 3 years with 2012 Logan RFL most money raised for youth team

My son was waitlisted this year with a 3.9/4.5 GPA and 31 ACT. He applied to Physiology and Neuroscience. He appealed his decision, was admitted, and will attend in the fall. I think that if you are going to apply under a very impacted major, be sure to list a less competitive major as your back-up. I think my son would have been more easily admitted if he had gone with a different major- several kids from his school with much lower stats were admitted to other majors that are not so impacted- one was undeclared in humanities for instance. One of his friends applied for engineering, but was accepted into another major (don’t remember what). He was told to go ahead and accept, and then switch majors once he is there. I’m not sure how easily that is done, but I know that after researching, he did decide to attend. I would probably try to get your test scores up a little- I think that is where my son fell short at first.

UCSD does not admit by major.
