UCSD & UCLA

Hello, I’m applying to colleges next year ( junior right now ) and I’m trying to sort out my options early. So as international student with a B+ grade, 1470 SAT, and lots community service work since that’s what I’m focused on, how much of a chance do I have to get into either UCLA or UCSD? What are some things I need to do that might make my application stornger?

What does your GPA translate into for the UC GPA? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Post capped weighted and fully weighted UC GPA.
Intended major? SAT subject tests?

Are you able to pay $60K+/year to attend?

Both schools are extremely competitive, so there is never a guarantee even for students with a 4.0+ GPA and near-perfect SATs. Every student applying to these schools needs safeties.

You need to be able to pay full fees. Assume $65K per year now that the fees have increased.

@Gumbymom it translated to 3.25. My intended major is political science or international affairs so I probably won’t need SAT subject but I’m planning to do it just Incase

@Gumbymom @“aunt bea” regarding fees, would paying full fees make your chances of getting in higher?

UC’s are need blind meaning paying full fees (which is already expected as an International applicant) will have no bearing on your chances. Your GPA is very low in comparison to the admitted student stats. UCSD/UCLA are going to be a tough admits.

No. The reason I mentioned it was for your information.
Students are usually shocked by the costs to attend.

GPA and SAT scores are the two top factors in having your application considered. (Along with being a resident- it is a public school intended for California residents- first and foremost.)
