D was accepted into quite a few schools, but the top choices are JMU and Udel at this time.

Both are great schools and can be easily accessed (albeit a few hours) away from home.

They both have great things going for them. D wants to have an active social life, which both schools would offer. D’s major seems a bit more advanced at Ddel, but I don’t think that matters as she won’t really have to go to grad school afterwards…(at least not immediately).

Both schools are similar in size. JMU is definitely more isolated and rural, and not as diverse as UDel. If she likes mountains and outdoor activities JMU has that. My S prefers UDel based on location and diversity.

What is her major?

I would also look at the other possible majors. It is not uncommon for students to change their minds after 1 or even 2 years. Which of the 2 schools offers more alternatives of interest to her?

My daughter went to UDel and friend’s son to JMU…location wise UDel is a better choice for access into Philadelphia, NYC, Baltimore, DC. JMU is very southern…he loved it there(said all the girls were gorgeous), but for a girl, I would lean toward Delaware.

My boyfriend goes to JMU and I go to UDel. I visited there and the food is AWESOME! There are many options besides the dining hall that you can use your dining hall punches at. UD’s food is really awful, I started resorting to cereal last year. Also, JMU is more of a party school than UD. I didn’t think that was possible til I visited, and it was pretty insane. I’d say if you’re majoiring in science go to UDel…but don’t expect it to be easy b/c it’s a state school (I made that mistake).
