I just received an email from UF stating to ‘support your child no matter the decision’. Does anyone know if these are sent to those who will ultimately be declined admission or a deferral?
It means nothing. We’ve been talking about that here: https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/t/university-of-florida-class-of-2028-official-thread/
Less than 5 days now.
Anyone have experience with the UF Presidential Scholarships? Just wondering if they are based more on merit or other factors?
Hi, current UF student here!
From what I’ve gathered after talking to recipients of the scholarships, I’ve found that it’s heavily (if not entirely) based on academic merit. A good few of the scholarship recipients also happen to be benacquisto scholarship recipients, so it’s safe to say that you have to be top of the admitted incoming class to be considered for these scholarships.
Side note: I will be checking this thread more frequently as we get closer to admissions day to (try to) answer any questions y’all may have about UF/student life/classes/etc.
I got into UF
Got into UF oos for biology on the pre-med track. Currently still waiting on more schools but debating UF or WFU.
UF v Wake? Two great schools but very different student experiences. What type of environment are you looking for?
My son and the daughter of a long-time friend of mine got into those schools last year. My son chose UF; friend’s daughter Wake. Both very happy; neither pre-med. My son is studying math, wanted a sports culture, very comfortable with —and wanted—a bigger place. My current junior daughter is very interested in Wake, she’s more liberal arts, but likes access to business curriculum and international programming. Mostly though, she just liked the vibe at Wake. I doubt this helps, but I do think it comes down to the environment your kid wants.
