I’m perplexed. Suggestions welcome!
@uftpafsu do you know where you rank in your high school class?
Yes. Top 20%. It is a big top 20 “traditional” high school in FL. So smaller HS are better a option??? I have noticed LOTS of accepted OOS on the FB groups.
@uftpafsu from what I have seen, from people I know, the top 10% have been the ones getting in. Congrats on FSU. It’s an AMAZING school!
So class rank matters that much? Not right and really Pathetic! At this HS less than 5% do not attend college or go into the Millitary!
@uftpafsu The common data set says class rank is “considered” not important or very important. BUT that is the only common denominator that I have noticed. Your GPA would determine your class rank anyway. So it’s kinda the same thing. They are comparing you to your classmates and recalculated GPA is more important than sat scores.
I agree with @flprepaidmom, top 20% is not good enough anymore. Your SAT will likely be in the top half of those accepted, but UF values high school grades and rigor more than test scores.
This is a point of debate on this board, but I believe that you are primarily competing against those in your high school. Assuming you go to school in Florida. And UF cannot accept 20% of the in state students.
Sure, some high schools tend to get a higher % of their students into UF than others, so it is best to know where that cutoff generally is for your high school.
Accepted to honors!
