If you are reading this thread, and your son or daughter did not get in, do not despair. I does not necessarily matter how well they do in school, testing, and ec. Our son had a tons of volunteer, leadership, 34 ACT, all A grades with all AP. It did not matter. He did not get in last year. In fact, even the Valedictorian of his class did not get in for the 2019 class.

We just heard from a friend and her daughter did not get in this week. 35 ACT, same type of background. Both our son and the Valedictorian ended up at UCF Barnett Honors college as freshman starting last August. They are in their own dorm, have very small class sizes, and are both happy. Whether its UCF or anywhere else, they will succeed.

The big issue is there are too many applicants (especially a strong rise in out-of-state applicants that get accepted) along with how the process works to be inclusive that makes it impossible to predict. We told all our friends with younger high schools students how difficult the process is in 2020. Prepare your kids.

Still waiting on some other decisions but def a top choice. Used to live in Orlando and think it would be cool to go home for 4 years. I live on the West Coast now though, so it’s a little far from home.

Congrats to those who posted about their acceptance to UF. As two-degree Gator, I know that wonderful that feeling, and I wish you the best at UF.

For those were denied admission, please know there is more than one way to become a Gator! If your dream is UF, it is time for you to consider SF. Santa Fe College is Gainesville’s OTHER award-winning institution of higher learning. In 2015, SF was named the #1 college in the country by the Aspen Institute. UF accepts more transfer students from SF than from the other 27 state/community colleges combined. Learn more at https://www.sfcollege.edu/gators/ifUFthenSF/

Visit SF and explore our campus and programs at the 2020 Open House, March 21. Register via Whova here: https://www.sfcollege.edu/openhouse/

Would appreciate some insight. Son did not apply and now is very interested.

Wondering about options for UF?

Congrats to all the new Gators.

@CowCollegeGrad87 If your son only has more class left to earn an AA degree, he should consider enrolling at a state/community college to finish the AA, and they apply to UF as a transfer student. If he takes the class in summer B (July/Aug), he may be able to start at UF in fall as a Junior.

@flprepaidmom .

@sipco100 can I ask you what your son’s u weighted GPA was?
