UF Transfer thread Fall 09

i put my name and my uf id # just incase the letter and my essays got separated.

the email i received said decisions won't be made until 6 weeks after the march 1st deadline. however, i really wouldn't be surprised if people started hearing before that.

If you have 60+ credits, you are considered a Junior, with junior standing. I'm a freshman at my University and I applied with more than 60 credits(85 credits if they accept most of my mdc and unc credits plus all of my ap's).
To everyone else:
How's the letter of intent? What were the prompts?

what do you mean how is the letter of intent?

it's a letter uf emails you asking if you're still interested and it asks for two small essay questions.

What are the two small essay questions about?

1) what you expect to get out of your degree

2) a place to explain any withdraws/bad grades... anything academic or otherwise that could help/hurt your acceptance.

has anyone seen any changes it their status?

Mine still reads as follows:

"Your application for admission to the University of Florida for the Fall 2009 term has been referred to your college for a final decision.

Please refer to the information below to determine whether any additional information is required. If you have sent information to us recently, please allow time for processing."

Then under that, there are some charts identifying courses in progress, application fee, all time accounted for, and the transcripts that have been received. Basically, I'm planning on finishing up those two essay questions for the letter of intent within the week (the second question is annoying me), which should be the final step. From what I understand, we should hear a decision six weeks after the April 2nd deadline.

does the college of business/accounting ask for a letter of intent?

I am applying for transfer fall '09 to the College of Education at UF.

-From a small private school. (florida college)
-with my AA
-GPA: 3.8, Pre-prof GPA: 4.0

Does everyone receive the letter of intent?

Community college GPA: 4.0
AA degree
Applied for: Journalism

~ Question: Who all received the e-mail asking for a letter of intent? Did you get it from UF or from your specific program? I have not been contacted at all (I applied in early September), and was not asked to write any essays on my application.

Also, has anyone heard about their transfer acceptance rates this year? Last year they were slashed by 30% but I haven't been able to find any information regarding this years percentage.

Per this link:
http://www.ir.ufl.edu/factbook/vii-01_hist.xls

For C.C. Transfers:
3,709 applied
1,270 admitted
39.9% admit rate

For other UG transfers:
2,238 applied
223 admitted
10% admit rate

Looks like this info was entered October 2009 for the 2008 class.
Don't know if that means you have to wait until October 2010 fro the 2009 info.

from this UF transfer link:
University of Florida - Admissions

NOTE: All transfer applicants should realize that Florida public community college graduates who have completed a university-parallel program and an Associate of Arts degree will receive priority consideration for admission IF they meet the requirements for admission to their UF college/major.

The numbers reflected above shockinly show this to be true.
39.9% vs. 10%

Total transfer students enrolled was actually only 1,142.

I applied in early February and just got in yesterday for Fall. School of Business.

GPA: 3.8 honors CC

AA Degree

Anyone actually get in from another 4 yr institution?
Or is it less than a 10% chance this year.

Maximus-- UF contacted and accepted you already for Fall? Does School of Business have rolling admissions, then? Because the deadline isnt until June 1st for that college I think... For most the deadline for transfer admissions is tomorrow.

Yes, I logged in and it says quote "Congratulations!!! Your application to the University of Florida for the Fall 2009 term has been approved! " When I called they said that I would probably hear something end of March, but I got it early.

Congrats!! I guess the rest of us will just have to wait and see :/

congrats! I hope we all get early decisions

BTW: did you receive a letter of intent?

i have not

Thanks...No, no letter of content.
