UGA or Penn State ?

I just got my SAT score and it looks like I got 620 in reading, 530 in math, and 530 in writing. I am taking them again on June 2 because on every single practice test i’ve done i’ve never scored that badly on writing so I hope to get it up to at least 580 (I was a little afraid to post these scores on here as everyone on this site seems to post such amazing scores… don’t judge me lol). But anyway, when added together this comes to a score of 1680.

My GPA is 3.73 (I am a Canadian student and have no idea what weighted/unweighted means but this is the one that’s highest goes to 4.0).

I have a fair amount of extra curriculars and am a prefect at my school.

As of now, I want to get into a communication program (journalism not media) at either University of Georgia, Penn State, or University of Michigan (which university is better, University of Michigan or Michigan State?)

I’d really like to know what my chances are… and if you have any other suggestions based on what i’ve listed above, please include those that would be amazing!!! I want to join a sorority so big greek life would be nice and I want my school to be in a nice college town.

I’m a Canadian so I am extremely new to American Universities.

THANK YOU

U Michigan and Michigan state are both great schools, but I don’t know much about either of them. I just know u Michigan has a higher percentage of out of state students than Michigan state but I don’t know if that’s a factor for you. Both are better than penn state and uga. Next would go penn state, then uga, unless one of those has a secretly good communications program that I haven’t heard anything about, but generally I’d say penn state is better for most programs. Your test scores are iffy but try to take the sat again and try the act to see how you do. You’ll have a tough time getting into either michigan school with them but penn state and uga shouldn’t be a problem

I will say this, U of M is a much more difficult school to get into than MSU… You should be able to get into MSU, but probably like a 10% chance for U of M. I heard that UGA has become difficult to get into out of state due to how easy it is if you are in state. penn state seems like a match, not as strongly as MSU, but you should get into both.

i’m bumping this… NEED AS MANY ANSWERS AS POSSIBLE <3

You could get into MSU no doubt, you would likely get into UGA and Penn State, but UM is a reach until you get your SATs up to 1850, and even then. UM has become a pretty selective university over the last decade. By the way, the writing section on the SAT was ridiculously hard on this last test. I got 710 on practice tests and a 620 on the real thing this time around. I’ve also noticed several other posters mentioning their lower than expected writing scores. Weird.

okay, I understand I won’t get into MSU… can we just discuss UGA or Penn State?

I think you misread what I said…you could very easily get into MSU (95%). It’s UM that’s the issue. You would likely get into UGA and Penn State (maybe a 75% chance), but if you boost your scores you’ll definitely get in.
