A good friend of mine from Uganda wishes to study in the US beginning in 2010.

He finished secondary school in November and in fact, he is the only literate person in his family. He was able to go to school only because he played soccer.

Anyway… so I am trying to help him out. He has applied for academic scholarships here, but I never considered university athletic scholarships until just recently.

So my question is, if he is as good in soccer as he says he is (his “club” is undefeated and he is good enough to have gotten a school scholarship), how can I go about helping him to get athletic scholarships here in the US?

I will soon be sending him my old digital camera so that he can video record himself as he plays, and I know that he can get a recommendation letter from his manager whenever necessary.

What should he/we do here?

Thanks :)
