Ugg Boots

Ugg makes a lot of fashion shoes as well. I just bought the above boot at a Ugg warehouse sale. I admit I own multiple pairs of the sheepskin boot. I wear them after a day of hiking or camping I put them on in camp. I wear them if I am attending an evening at the beach. I wear them if I’m going to get a massage or if I’m going to a movie. They keep my feet warm but never make my feet feel sweaty. They don’t smell.
I also have slip on sneakers by Ugg that have a sheepskin insole. I also have quite a number of boots that one would not know are Ugg brand. Last week at the warehouse sale I bought 4 pairs of Ugg boots. Only 1 of which has a flat sole. I also bought a pair of suede slip on sneakers. What I don’t own is a pair of Ugg slippers.
Plenty of people in the world must still be buying and wearing them as their parent company is doing well. While they are now made in China they do have a good sized work force in the US. The headquarters is in my area and they are known for being a great place to work. They provide good paying jobs, great employee benefits and promote community involvement by their employees. I know numerous people who work for Ugg and the other brands owned by the same company. They love their jobs and the company.

They are warm but not sweaty. You don’t have to wear socks in those boots (and they don’t get gross). Everyone wore them here 5-10 years ago but I don’t see them much any more! The UGG slippers we have are superior to the similar “wicked good” slippers from LLBean. The sheepskin is better–feels better, holds up better, lasts better. People wear the slippers out on the town too. Just so comfy.

Not romanigypsyeyes but some people don’t wear things made of leather or sheepskin.

So they prefer to contribute to the profits of the oil companies, 'cause that’s what synthetic materials are made of, ultimately.
One way or the other, we damage the planet.

Still seen in the midwest a bit. Not snow or slush boots, however, which is why I think we don’t see much of them anymore. And, they do tend to wear at the toe…maybe my D’s drag their feet more than most, tho.

Adding traction or making it water proof can make these useful for winters in snowy areas, why their company is not securing that market? Why make boots that are only good for late fall or early spring?

@WorryHurry411 - they are good all winter long. You just may not want to wear them during a major snowstorm, or when it’s really icy. Once the snow has slowed down or stopped, then I will wear them outside to walk the dog because the sidewalks have been cleared pretty well.

I pulled mine out of the back of the closet last winter to wear in the mornings when my D was at a horse show. I used to wear them all the time at the barn when it was cold and D was riding her horse, but I haven’t worn them much recently.

You can spray them with a water repellent (although they are naturally pretty repellent). We did. It works. We wore ours all through winter. They survived fine (but didn’t stay “pretty”). https://www.amazon.com/UGG-Australia-Stain-Repellent-Bottle/dp/B001KXPNH6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475179850&sr=8-1&keywords=ugg+protectant+spray

They are great for cold outdoor functions. Sitting in a stadium, bundled up with toasty feet!

One of the things I like about the boots is how breathable they are-I don’t know if sealing them with a water repellent is what you want to do. The downside of breathable boots is they don’t keep the water out, either. I’m ok with that (I have boots for soggy weather), but I don’t think you want to make Uggs into something they’re just not.

My shoe-obsessed daughter hated Uggs, calling them ugly and way too trendy. Then she moved to a city with a much harsher winter climate than where she grew up. Bought Uggs. Converted. Still thinks they look goofy; still loves them for their warmth. I just got the sheepskin slippers I ordered online. Boy do they feel great on a chilly morning/evening.

I think they’re cute but my DD won’t wear them because they’re overdone as a fashion statement. Too bad because I love the slippers. My hotflashes prevent me from wearing boots even when I’m chilly. I have to be able to kick off shoes quickly lol

^^^^^^^^ this is a huge reason I am a fan of Dansko clogs. I kick them off when I sit down.
