Ugh, Back to School

Sad thing is, i’ve never watched that movie ALL the way through.
But then again, the last time I tried was back in elementary school. hehe…:X

I’m really not looking forward to school at all. And I don’t want to look at my report card from the 1st semester. I still have no idea what my grades are. Right now my junior year GPA could range from a 3.33 unweighted (hopefully not! I worked my butt off this past semester) to a 3.83, or 4.0 if my Econ teacher really made a mistake while grading my exam. I’m just going to expect the worst and hope for a 3.33… sigh, goodbye college :(

I watched it, whenever I changed my location to that, but only because my little sister wanted me to watch it with her. I don’t like that movie all that much, it bores me, and the witch used to freak me out.

I’m sorry, Fledgling

i actually dont really mind going back to school. btw, im not your average CCer

yes same here school opens tomorrow but its cool, hey did you guys have mid terms already?

don’t wanna go.

ugh don’t wanna go either. and i doubt i would get anything accomplished since i’ve been struck by senioritis ;]

haha we have mid terms a week after we go back

I am already back at school because I live in the boarding school!!! And I am terribly upset right now. I’ve always wanted to live in a room like that of Harry Potter’s - dark closet under the stairs. And I knew if I ever suggested this to my parents at home they would kick me out so I made a deal with my roommate that I move my bed into the closet and have the closet as my bedroom for the 2nd semsmster of my senior yr. Because this was a big sacrifice on my roommate’s side, giving up the closet completely, I did many things for him last semester until he finally said yes - cleaning his space of the room, emptying the trash can and every little thing you could think of in the dorm. AND MY Bed doesn’t go through the closet because of the two clothes hangers on both sides so My dream of living in a dark room like harry potter for the rest of my senior year completely SHattered…T_T

fantacising is dangerous

to hell with school.

I can clearly see what you mean. What a charming green witch.
:P

Not back to school!

Which is really good, because I couldn’t sleep at all last night and I’m dead tired. But the school’s heating system is broken (still) and they finally decided to do something about it. Luckily, they decided today. So I think that means that there’s only three days of school this week for my school.

The best part is that the public schools have a full week.

So I got back to school and the first thing I find out is that I got a C on my Honors Physics final, after having struggled both marking periods to maintain my grade at an A-. I’m really sad right now. My teacher claims that there will be a curve, but I don’t know how much that will help me. I’m not very optimistic about it either. Add that to the fact that I have B+'s in AP Econ and Calc AB for sure (unless my Econ teacher made a mistake, which we’re going to go over when she comes back in a week), and I have a 3.5 at best.

You think your application sucks? Try having crappy grades despite trying your hardest, AND being an ORM, not being a U.S. citizen, and applying for financial aid.

I should probably just drop out of high school. I hate this so much.

(calming down a little)

Okay, so maybe that “dropping out” thing was a bit of an exaggeration, but I’m still more than slightly miffed. What I don’t understand is how I can work hard and still get relatively bad grades - and I’m not stupid by any means. I scored a 2120 SAT as a sophomore on a day when I was feeling quite sick, most likely qualified for NMSF (score is 7 points above state’s cutoff), have all SAT II scores above 700, am a member of Mensa (though I probably won’t mention that on my app), and speak 4 languages fluently, 2 of which are completely non-existent within my family language background. So maybe I’m not great at math, and especially not calculus, but my physics class doesn’t require any calculus knowledge… and yet I make a few simple mistakes and get screwed over badly.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? :(

I go back Wednesday, but I still need to read 100 more pages of Pride and Prejudice and write a 5 page paper comparing a character to Hamlet’s Claudius. >_<

I’m the same way, with the sciences and Math. I can do almost everything else well, and most Math, but usually science and math are my lowest grades.

Just found out that we do have school on Wednesday because we didn’t have school today, something I find ridiculous because it wasn’t out fault. Anyway, school’s tomorrow and it shouldn’t be too bad, unless everyone suddenly has the urge to make up for lost time.

fledgling, I’m 3/4 the same as you (except for the crappy grade…I’d call mine decent). I totally understand the pressure/NEED to do well in high school for college. Your situation is pretty frustrating. But, at least in my school, teachers are a bit flexible about grades on the borderline. I don’t know how likely it is for you to “argue” some points back. It works here…

But really, grades only have a limited impact in college admissions (with parents…might be a different story). Getting a low grade certainly isn’t great, but a good improvement might help you more than the bad grades detract. Keep going!

I hate how I have 2 tests tomorrow (which btw, my teachers just announced today - they very same ones that tell us not to cram) – UGH

I go back Wednesday–50% overload this semester =)
