Hi, I finished my freshman year at NYU CAS.
Rest of my grades are alrigt (A’s and B’s), but I got one F because I missed the final. (long story).
It’s also happens to be a crucial class. I’m a pre-med and I flunked chem lab.
What should I do? Will NYU let me retake it to replace the F, or will it forever blemish my transcript?

NYU will allow you to retake it, and retake it you should if you want to go to medical school. It will, however, blemish your transcript - as far as I know, there is no way to remove it from your record.

LOL, it is funny how you thought NYU was a “safety,” yet you failed a class at your supposed “safety” school. Ah I feed off the irony. lol

Anyways, talk with your guidance counselor about what to do, and whether they can erase the chem lab credit depending on what your circumstance was.

wow, like that last comment was even necessary, pakistan.

stuff happens sometimes, even at “safety” schools, even at NYU.

so sit down. you’re not even at NYU yet, but your attitude is already showing. nice.

( Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed ^^ lol)

hmm big problem… you may want to talk to your professor, advisor(s), or even the dean for students (Richard Kalb). generally if you are going to be absent, you must let your professor know beforehand. if you did and the professor refused to let you makeup, then you can appeal directly to the dean or some grade committee i heard about. probably a good idea to contact the student council too. if it was an emergency event that cause to miss the final suddenly, just explain to the professor and/or dean and see what happens. if that fails or it wasn’t an emergency, try to request to take it. if that still fails, you can retake the course. if the newer grade is a C or higher, it will replace the F (or Ds in similar cases as well). i seen some nyu students do it. probably a good idea to ask your advisor about it as well.
