Uh Oh... Is McCain in favor of reenacting the draft...

I kind doubt there would be commercial flights and the currency would likely jump into hyperinflation and be useless. So knock out those two steps.

If they are Coming for America. Canada, Mexico and a whole slew of others are going also.

While its a possibility for nukes, our infrastructure is stretched so thin, Its unlikely a well organized attack on us could be defended. Id say at least a 99% probability that other nations already have weapons(nukes, etc) in our country.

Montreal’s a 6 hour drive from here. Embassies are also, by international law, property of the country who owns them. But I’d first sell secret information to them in exchange for my safety than fight them.

By the way, in the age of the internet, I’d already be halfway to Montreal before the transport planes even crossed the international date line.

@ DrHorse, in that case, a draft is even more futile, which is my point.

If we’re going the social contract route, let me interpret it this way: you know that fat check you cut every April 15th? Yeah, taxes. We’re BUYING services from the government; in other words, we’re HIRING the government to deal with stuff that we can’t deal with individually. We’re entitled to healthcare, social security, defense, whatever because we BOUGHT it. Every single cent of it. Whatever services we get from the government, we BOUGHT FROM THEM. That’s why we’re entitled to them. The entire populace of the United States of America, as a collective entity, BUYS certain services from the government. It’s not our problem that the government sells it at loss-leading prices, or that the government has no idea what we bought from them.

As a part of this strictly business transaction, the government has certain obligations. However, since we bought its services, we owe it nothing. That’s the way I explain it. I’m going to be buying competent national defense from the United States Government; therefore, they can’t expect anything else from me. It’s not my problem if the military’s stretched thin. I paid you money so don’t expect anything else from me. That’s why I “hired” you to deal with it. That’s why we, the people of the United States of America, hired you to deal with it.
