Hindo, i respect your belief. But you have to see it from the lens of a very conservative person. We went to the war on information of WMD, this information ended up being false. We can’t suddenly just leave Iraq, until it can fully stablize itself or the last 7 years was a waste. Do you understand that?
Also, it appears you’re against war, but are you also against building up our military? What will you do if another country attacks us, but we aren’t able to defend ourself correctly? Will this peace loving atitiude you harbor help us then?

Yes, fendey, I understand your point. We made an unGodly mess in Iraq and now we need to take care of it. … No, I’m certainly not opposed to having a strong military. My problem is that the Bush/Cheney/McCain crew rely too heavily on military force as opposed to diplomacy. I believe we were led into Iraq on bogus information and questionable motives by a rowdy group of neo-con chickenhawks, who, for the most part, had never themselves experienced the horrors of war firsthand. I’m reasonably certain that Eisenhower, MacArthur, T. Roosevelt, or Bradley would have been hesitant to “pull the trigger” so quickly in Iraq.

As for defending ourselves against countries that wish us harm, I seriously doubt the Bush regime has helped us there. By swaggering around the globe like arrogant, gun-slinging cowboys, we’ve probably made fewer friends and a great deal more enemies during the past eight years. A much more dangerous situation than we’ve ever faced before, in my humble opinion. :(

Did you find any WMD in Iraq? Because no one else did. And a dictator doesn’t justify an invasion. Plenty of countries have dictators. We can’t invade another country just because we don’t agree with their political system.

Hmm, so Bush always responds to intelligence given to him? Then why didn’t he do anything when the CIA warned him about Bin Laden 9 months before 9/11?

I’m want McCain to win because Obama is all hype to me. but something about Obama i don’t like, he seems shady to me. McCain did serve in the military, he has two sons in the military (which is rare for any politicians children to be enlisted), and for all of those who think hes an old white fart, he does have a non white adopted child. Obamas wife is in the spotlight too much as well… shes annoying.

McCain did serve in the military, he has two sons in the military (which is rare for any politicians children to be enlisted),

Military service does not translate into good political leadership. Don’t forget that one of our worst presidents in history, Ulysses S. Grant, was a Civil War general and hero.

^It’s not that Jimmy Carter was a bad president. The policies he suggested would have helped America prosper. However, his flaw was in thinking that Americans would stop putting their own needs before the needs of the nation as a whole.

He’s like that nerdy kid in school who knows how to get things done, but nobody likes him because he doesn’t know how to get people to like him.

haha yup sig saucer, mccain is the lesser IMO, and idc what anyone says. you may not agree, but it’s okay.

i don’t get how low income/middle class people think it’s okay to tax wealthy people anymore. i mean come on, my parent’s didnt work hard with blood, sweat, and tears, so some low lives can take my hard earned money.
and its funny how liberals make it seem like it was just republicans who agreed on iraq, when 60% of democrats voted for the war also. hmm

^The thing is fendey, a lot of rich people didn’t work hard with blood, sweat and tears to get rich. Many were born into it and others did it by landing high profiled jobs.

And calling the poor “low lives” is unbelievable. Do you really think that the recent (legal) immigrant who has to work 2 jobs, 6 days a week to support his/her family isn’t working as hard as Britney Spears? I think not…

Hippo, im talking about the poor people who abuse our system. For example, the welfare system. I truly believe it needs to be dismantled right now. Its making blacks suffer in general IMO, if it wasn’t for this system be introduced along with crack cocaine entering the ghetto, blacks would be just as ahead as whites. But enough with that subject, that’s whole different thread…

Also hippo, i work hard and i end up with a 4.0 gpa, u are lazy and work once in awhile, so u have a 2.0 gpa, take one point away from me, to give to u. so it’s fair? come on, this isn’t a communist country.

fendey, what exactly do you mean by “think it’s okay to tax wealthy people anymore”?

I believe in poll taxing. Am I a *******?

no comment. i give up, you guys will believe in what you want, i believe in what i want. lets leave it with that.

The current percentage of national income that is made by the wealthiest Americans has never been higher since the Roaring 20s. That is not a good thing. Contrary to your simplistic logic, rich people do not make more money because they work harder or are more valuable to society. Ever since the Reagan Revolution, the rich have been skewering the playing field to tip the scales in their favour more and more. Trillions of dollars are stashed in overseas accounts, immune to American taxes.

When the likes of Phil Gramm are able to infiltrate Congress and pass deregulation laws that enable Enron and the subprime mortgage crisis, it is not an even playing field where the rich are ahead simply because they’re smarter and harder-working.

A more apt analogy would be if you got that 4.0 by sleeping with the professor, while hippo got a 2.0 by being honest. In that case, yes, it’s absolutely fair that a point gets taken away from you.

i don’t mind giving away points from my GPA as long as my fellow 4.0s are taxed equally and I still remain on top of my class and get to go to Harvard. :)

I hate this too. We already pay for it to exist and function, what more do you want?

If the United States were to be invaded by China or Russia, I’d pack my bags, walk to the nearest Citibank, withdraw all my deposits, catch a cab to JFK, walk right up to the Air Canada checkin counters, and buy myself a ticket on the first flight to Toronto or Montreal, where I will catch my onward flight to London and on to Auckland, New Zealand (and change all the aforementioned cash into Euros). At some point, I have to come first. And I’m sure my parents would agree.

Say what you will on the matter, but that’s all I have to say on the matter. And to preserve my own safety and well-being? Yes, it’s worth it.

No need to worry. If we were invaded by those countries, we’d settle the war with nukes.
