Thanks for your post! So basically after March 10th, the interviews are done for GPPA. Now that I know I feel better haha.

Does anyone know how many they accept to the program in total?

Also, are the GPPA interview invites sent out in order of when the Honors College interviews took place?

Dcfan,

The GPPA interviews are not necessarily sent out before or after your Honors College interview takes place. I was sent my interview notification for medicine a day after receiving an invite to the honors college. I had both interviews last weekend. They revealed that ~370 applied and 70 received an invite to interview. Of the 70 interviewed around 40 will be extended an admission offer.

Hello. Does anyone know anything about the second interview for GPPA Dental students? Is it similar to the Med one?

So 70 interviews have already been sent? Or they estimate it WILL be 70?

They plan to interview about 70. They will invite people to interviews until the second week of March. If you have not yet been called for an interview, you still have hope.

At the honor’s interviews last Saturday, J. Volpe said that they will be interviewing between 75-100. Like MrJohnSmith has stated, 2nd week of March is deadline so everyone still definitely has hope.

Just an FYI, maybe it was in an earlier post but UIC has increased tuition for Med School by 21% and now UIC College of Med is one of the most expensive state Med schools. Illinois is just not doing well. Even our state schools which should be cheaper for us are more expensive than some neighboring schools’ out of state tuition costs. Darn it darn it darn it.

flash00back, when is your gppa interview.

Dreth,
On your day of interview how many students were there.

They only interview 5-6 students per day for gppa

MrJohnSmith( and goodnews123),

No, I have not received an invitation yet. I was just curious. I do hope I receive an invitation soon.

I received the dental interview! Scheduled for early March. So excited!

flash…,

In general for any medical interview, you should ware a suit. It is always better to over dress rather than under dress. This is not like the casual UG interview at Starbucks. Good luck.

MrJohnSmith,

Thanks for the info.

good luck you guys! I’m a current gppa pharm student and i hope you all get in :]

hithere1215,

Thanks. Can you please describe the whole GPPA experience ?

My D has an Gppa second interview next week. Anyone care to share what kind of questions they are asking. Beside Dr.Cohen and Chambers who else is interviewing the students. Any information will be highly appreciated. Thanks

The purpose of the interview is to learn about the applicant by seeing how they spontaneously respond to questions. It is inappropriate to try and get advanced information since it undermines the evaluation process. No one should be asking or providing specific details about the interviews or the essay prompts. You should be aware that GPPA staff read this forum and may be able to figure out who you are from your posts. Giving or asking for such information probably will not reflect well on the applicant, and may get you rejected.

MrGPPA

It makes total sense what you are saying, sorry about the information asked. Thanks

i think it’s been great so far and totally worth it! but then again thats just me, i also know several gppa pharm kids that drop out to do medicine or something else, but i plan on sticking with it, i picked pharmacy because i really like it and really want to pursue it, but if youre torn between pharmacy and medicine, or haven’t looked into either, i would do that before to save time, just in case you change your mind i personally have already looked into both and am totally positive that i’m going to do pharmacy, but like i said before a lot of people are indecisive

i remember i was nervous for the interview and especially during the long wait for the final decision afterwards, a lot of people don’t get in and i honestly didn’t think i would so i made sure i had other options, once i got in i was really excited! orientation was fun, gppa and honors had their own group, and the honors college picnic was fun as well,

being a gppa student or even just honors is really great, you meet a lot of people, and it makes the campus smaller, you feel like you belong, and the honors college gives you so many opportunities, and especially if you’re gppa pharm you’ve got it made, you’ve got a seat at one of the top pharmacy schools in the nation! the advisors at the honors college are also very helpful, you’re informed about scholarships and encouraged to do research etc, the honors classes are interesting, i really like it! :)
