<p>I think that it is accurate. The requirement is a 28, but since so many people apply, they can only take the best 70-80, so most people have 32s and higher. If you really want GPPA MD, then you should be aiming for 32 and above. The best of luck to you and all others applying! </p>

For med I think the ACT is just a benchmark and a number of other things (especially transcripts and ECs) play a huge role. I haven’t even got my 2nd interview and I have a 34 (35 superscore) so I’m pretty sure it’s, simply put, not as important as people would assume. </p>

<p>I just found out today that someone who has mediocre ECs and GPA with a lot of volunteering got into GPPA Med this year.
He got a 28 on his ACT. I think that it was maybe a combination of his volunteering hours, his essays, and his interviews that were really the turning point.
So I agree with you. They are not JUST looking for the best ACT score, but, I think that the higher your score, the more likely you are to be considered. I think this guy was an exception to the norm.</p>
<p>However, I also advise for those who are planning to apply to GPPA Med in coming years, not to kill yourselves over a high ACT score. I think they just want a really well-balanced transcript with ECs and volunteering playing a large part. </p>

<p>I had my honors college interview before winter break (about 1 1/2 months ago), and I haven’t received any interview invitation from the college of medicine. But I know some people who had their honors college interview just a few weeks ago and they’ve received the gppa medicine interview. Does anyone know if the college of medicine sends out gppa med interviews in the order that honors college interviews take place? </p>
<p>@randomandweird whoa! congratz! GPPA Medicine interview invite is a HUGE deal!!! I’m told that once you get invited, it’s VERY likely you’ll get in, so long as you don’t ‘flop’ the interview. (I don’t know if it’s the same as the honors college interview, but they said that about 60% of the candidates at the interviews are selected—which is fantastic odds.) Less than 50 students are admitted to the GPPA Medicine program (I heard the number is closer to 40) a year and literally HUNDREDS of kids apply! You should be really proud of yourself 
Especially because this year at my honors college interview, they said that more people applied to the honors college and the GPPA medicine program than ever before (in part because they introduced their Early Action Nov. 1st deadline this year, so more students applied in general).</p>
<p>Also, I’ve read on UIC’s website that you have to be a member of the honors college to be in the GPPA for medicine…or if not it’s definitely strongly recommended (They have different policies for different GPPA programs. For example, I know that for the College of Education one—my program of choice—honors college membership was only ‘strongly recommended.’)</p>
<p>Good luck at your interview! No, I don’t think you’ll get quicker results if you pick the earlier date (They announce all the GPPA results around the same span of time—late March/early April—so it just depends when the letter/email gets to you!)</p>

<p>Just spoke to them. FYI this year they have had record applications. Usually 400-500 apps and this year they have just over 800. Still only interviews for about 100 for med school and about 50-75 accepted expecting only 35 to enroll. For honor’s college I think all are interviewed and they are going to go through 9 rounds of interviews. They have only finished 2 rounds so far.</p>
<p>I just got an email from GPPA MEd saying I was invited for interview. The email reads “Your day will consist of an interview with a College of Medicine faculty member, an oral essay, and an information period”.</p>

Because I applied late November, got my acceptance letter (just to the university) in early December, but still haven’t heard back from honors college :/</p>
<p>Rago056 do not worry they (UIC) is just overwhelmed with apps this year. I doubt they are using any formula and just trying to get through them all. In 2 weeks if you don’t hear anything you might want to call them or call them now if it is worrying you a lot.</p>

<p>You guys, I’m really freaking out…
I’ve applied to the program from late-ish November and I haven’t even got an Honors College interview yet because they always fill up so quickly! The first email I got was end of January, just got another one and in a matter of reading it a half-hour late, the event filled up!
Will this affect my chances of getting a GPPA interview?
Will the program even consider my application UNTIL I get into the Honors college?
Someone please offer some words of wisdom because I’ve been gunning on this and I really would like to get the chance.</p>
