Is there an on-campus housing having all or some features shown below?

• Furniture and Internet available
• It is best that a floor/cluster/residence hall is female only
• Less people share a bathroom and the room is near the bathroom
• Two-person share a room
• Convenient for buying things and going to laundry room and class
• It is best that students can stay at the dorm even during breaks and holidays. Or students only not allow to stay at the dorm during winter break
• Suitable for transfer student

What are the disadvantages of the suggested dorms?

As to on-campus:
Bussey-Evans, Lincoln Avenue and Barton halls are women only; co-ed dorms are essentially one sex per floor. Wired internet is available in all rooms; wireless is available in numerous places on campus but not dorms. Furniture consists of a bed, desk, and desk chair for each occupant. Most rooms have two occupants (although there are some singles, tripples and quads). Bathrooms are community bathrooms and thus there is no “less people share a bathroom” and you can be close to one by happenstance of getting assigned a room close to the bathroom. There is no such thing as “largest room” as all two person rooms are fairly small. There are some that have smaller rooms than others. The ones with the somewhat “larger” rooms are those on the west side of campus (which is many of the residence halls). There are laundry rooms in the halls. As to convenience for buying things, not sure what you are referring to, but residence halls don’t have stores. West side dorms are not too far from stores off-campus. Illinois Residence Hall (ISR) is closest to main quad and engineering quad for classes. Others require a little walking and PAR (Pennsylvania Residence Hall) and FAR (the Florida Residence Halls) are long walks to the main quad. There is a campus bus system. Halls, except for two (usually ISR and PAR), close during breaks (Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring) and you would need separate contract to cover break and stay in one of the two that remain open (even if you are already assigned to one of those halls).

As to “transfer” student, understand that the halls are heavily occupied by freshman and and to some extent sophomores and most juniors and seniors live off-campus in apartments or the Private Certified Housing, although ISR has a higher contigent of upper classmen than others (mostly engineering students).

An option is to check out apartments off-campus or the off-campus Private Certified Housing-- those approved by UIUC for occupancy by students which you can find on the UIUC website. Those tend to have bathrooms shared by small number of residents (four or five), have larger rooms, and tend to remain open during breaks, and have a fair size of upper classmen…
