I have 4 days left to confirm my enrollment in a college, and today was my personal deadline and i’m still conflicted.
UIUC is considered a prestigious college, and has a good brand name so a degree from here would give me a slight advantage when applying for jobs in the future and it’s also ranked #8 in the U.S. for undergraduate psychology, meaning the program and the internships available for this major will be plentiful.
However, UIUC is in a really rural area which is the main thing that is bothering me. Will I have enough to do there? I’m an international student so I need to fly into town when I move in and the airport isn’t nearby I think. There is not easy accessibility by my family who will be flying in to visit at times as well. In general, are there activities to do there that will keep me sustained for 4 years? Or will I get bored and eventually want to die of a mixture of boredom and the cold?
Drexel on the other hand is not that good for psychology, has a pretty bad brand name, is considered a party school and doesn’t really have a happy student population. However, the co-op program is an advantage as it allows me to gain an edge in the future when I’m looking for jobs. An edge is particularly important to me as I’m a psychology major, I could use all the help I can get when looking for a career. However, since Drexel isn’t know for it’s psychology program, I’m afraid they’ll stick me with any random co-op program that won’t help me in the future like talking to children in a high school or middle school. Also, how much will a co-op program even help me, I’m a psych major. I know I sound a little contradictory but I’m just typing what comes to my mind when I think of all this.
The majorrrr advantage of Drexel is that it’s in the city. There’s a TON to do, it’s an hour away from family (so is UIUC by the way but like 2 hours I think and I won’t have a car because international student). But anyway, Drexel is easily accessibility by my international family and there is no chance of boredom what-so-ever.
So, in the end, what college should I go with? Drexel (with the advantage of a co-op program and a fun environment) but with the disadvantage of a not-so-well-known college and a bad program for my major or UIUC (which is a really good college for my major but literally in a very boring area which is hard to get to).
HELP ME OUT PLEASE I HAVE 4 DAYS
