UIUC - SRAR submission

My daughter is applying to UIUC -EA. In the SRAR report, what is the difference between Regular type course and College Prep in the type while adding HS courses?

Semantics really. I defer to what your kid’s counselor says to use, not knowing what the counselor recommends, I would say college prep for core courses (assuming they aren’t honors or APs) and regular for electives.

Thanks for the response. I was thinking the other way around, college prep for electives and core courses are regular. I’ll ask my daughter to reach out to school counselor for recommendation.

Electives, courses like PE, culinary arts, painting, are generally not considered college prep.

If your D doesn’t want to wait to speak with the counselor, she can check the school’s profile to see how non-honors courses are designated.

Big picture, you can’t really make a mistake…it’s highly unlikely UIUC is weighting courses designated college prep and regular in a different way.

We used the illinois application myIllini instead of commnon app to apply and do not see a srar link. can somebody confirm srar is not required for people using myIllini app to apply?

No SRAR needed, your student should have put all courses/grades into the MyIllini app.

What does it mean to self-report my courses?

If you apply through myIllini, you’ll be asked to enter your courses and grades for years 9 to 11 as they appear on your official high school transcript. You’ll also be asked to enter your courses in progress for year 12.

If you submitted the Common App, we’ll email you with a link to your Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR), where you’ll add your courses and grades. We are not able to use the courses and grades you reported in the Common App.

This may vary from school to school. At my S’s school, IEP, a couple of elective, all lifeskill, and PE classes are regular. Rest are college prep, advanced, and AP.
