Not me. My son. CS
@ailele I am sorry. Good luck to your son!
@Chemeng102 No worries. How was your interview in UK going? What major did you apply for?
It went alright. I got asked all the technical questions (nothing from my personal statement). Apply for Engineering.
Hey everyone,
I recently got an offer from UCL in Mathematics with Economics and was wondering how hard it it to switch to the pure Economics or the Economics with statistics program?
@kiwi351 Congratulations! How long did it take to get the offer after submitting the application? Are you a USA student? Did you submit official SAT/ACT along with your application?
@ailele I applied on October 15th and received the offer today.
Here’s all my info: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/united-kingdom/2099070-cambridge-ucl-lse-uedinburgh-and-kcl-as-a-french-high-school-student-in-the-us-chance-me.html#latest
@kiwi351 Congrats on the offer. If you want to switch courses you should contact UCL directly asap. As the courses are fairly similar and you must have a strong math background to have got the admission for math with econ, I would think there’s a strong chance it would be possible. Good luck!
I applied on October 15th and got admitted to LSE on March 22nd.Offer is conditional based on 2 5s in AP exams. I have also received unconditional offers from Kings, UCL and SOAS. Thank you all for your guidance wrt UK admissions.
I got quite lucky with US universities admission process and got EA admit to Georgetown SFS and RD admit to John Hopkins and University of Chicago.
Congratulations and good luck with your APs if you decide on one of the courses for which you need them. Have you decided which offer you prefer?
Thank you! Debating between LSE and Georgetown SFS.
@collegemom3717 can you please advise me? I am struggling to clearly understand the LSE offer. It states “ Grade 5, 5 in US AP Plus provide certified documentation of your previous qualifications.”
I am a Canadian student who already has 5s in three APs courses and will be taking 3 more next month. My counsellor thinks they are referring to the ones I have taken and providing high school diploma as AP is not a requirement for Canadians. But I think they are asking me to obtain 5s in 2 more APs. They didn’t specify which subject so should I assume any out of the two?
Thank you for your help
you’re right and your counsellor is wrong. they want 5 x 5 APs In all, so want you to provide your official certification for the three you already have, and two more in due course, and obviously you already have any required subjects for your course.
^^what @Conformist1688 said. LSE’s standard offer for students applying with APs is 5 5’s. Good news- they aren’t specifying which 2 of the 3 you are taking. Less wonderful news: you should deposit someplace else (guessing SFS) just in case.
Thank you @Conformist1688 and @collegemom3717
I do plan to place a deposit at SFS and I also have Kings College as unconditional insurance.
Great set of options for you @bestuni2019! congrats on your great results
Thank you @collegemom3717
I like my guidance counselor but I think she gets confused with the LSE and doesn’t get it. Now she thinks I need 5s in all three AP courses i.e., AP EuoHistory, AP Macro and AP Micro. The offer says “Grade 5, 5 in US AP Plus provide certified documentation of your previous qualifications.” But she thinks LSE considers AP Macro and Micro as 1 AP. However, you had mentioned last year that there were no distinctions. While I hope to get 5s in all three APs I am taking, I am focusing more on Euro and Macro. Can you please advise?
The conditional offer is literal. If they wanted 3 more 5’s they would say that.
You have listed them to receive your score report?
You letter specifies only the 5 in AP US (or Euro- not clear from your post) plus confirmation of existing scores? that’s all you need.
snap! crossed posts with you @VickiSoCal
