UK schools and their US equivalents

I messed up so much, I even forgot to mention the Irish, Italians, Koreans and the Africans that populated colonial Africa. Even if I omit the red Indians.

I bet their culture was also the same as that of those in Windsor and Buckingham?

@LutherVan, I’m done trying to explain to you in good faith. Right now, I think pretty much everyone following this thread will agree with me that not only are you ignorant about a lot, with only a shallow understanding of stuff you spout off on, but also arrogant, insulting, not open-minded, do not want to engage in debate in good faith (you say you want to deeply understand, but just say “absolute nonsense” and put forth a weak tangential argument–you do realize, BTW, that the UK has plenty of immigrants as well, no?–when I respond instead of evaluate what I say) and frankly,are not worth my time.

Anyone who cares to read about American cultural history and how regional cultures developed may want to read David Hackett Fischer’s “Albion’s Seed” and Colin Woodard’s “American Nations”. I doubt you would. Rather, you’ll keep going on about unis in both the UK and US which (it is evident to me, given the arguments that you have put forth) you would not get in to in a million years.

@PurpleTitan I think he’s a tr*ll. It’s really not worth engaging him, no one benefits, least of all him.

@PurpleTitan, so I am the one that is ignorant despite the fact you are the one making all the ignorant statements which you cannot back up when challenged?

Your problem is that you operate in the wrong direction of logical conclusion. Basically, instead of getting information and evaluating it objectively to form an opinion, you have a dogma you want to propagate and you then try to pick information that “fit” this dogma. Hence, when you are challenged (which I can see you are not used to), you flutter and struggle while trying to obfuscate as much as possible with more unobjective “fitting” information you cannot back up as well. Hoping the person just cannot be bothered while you persevere to save face.

I can persevere and after spotting your tactics realised what I needed to do: That is, to isolate one of your unsubstantiated arguments instead of letting you create a cumbersome volume of arguments running in parallel.

I knew that would give you no place to hide or a means to distract by just switching to another point you want to argue in a volume of parallel arguments.

I picked the UK difference argument to isolate because I knew it was total nonsense you put forward that is just indefensible. It was just a face-saving piece of total nonsense that does not make sense but you felt “fitted” your dogma.

I could have (and would have) moved to this next nonsense, after I establish your inability to defend the UK difference:

Another one I could have isolated was your “gold standard/bogus” argument.

Your argument strategy seems to be to use positive words/superlativeness for information you think “fit” your argument and negative words/criticism for ones that challenge it and hope that works. No reasoning through information you get.

I see you use these tactics along with perseverance in all your debates I have seen on CC. It might work with impressionable adolescents, but it wouldn’t work with someone like me.

So, no, you were not explaining in good faith. You are just self-obsessed and trying to propagate your dogma for some kind of self-fulfilment, irrespective of any corrections/facts you are given.

Next time, don’t be making statements that make no sense just for the sake of keeping your dogma alive. Give facts objectively.

@alcibiade, I am a tr*ll because I don’t take your buddy’s dogma? lol

Such reasoning tallies with the stupidity of saying it is immature to say “educate me” while you think it is maturity to call someone “callow ****” without even at least once giving your own argument to correct the person.

Just hope this is not the reasoning you are teaching the kids. Being intelligent, and speaking intelligently, is a natural gift that not all individuals possess.

@luthervan:
“Being intelligent, and speaking intelligently, is a natural gift that not all individuals possess.”

You have made me painfully aware of that. I’ve wasted too much time engaging with a person lacking such possession already. For one, you seem to have missed that I think you are immature not for saying “educate me” but for attacking someone who does care to explain to you. The rest of your blather isn’t worth my time. In any case, anyone reading this thread can easily judge for themselves who is debating in good faith and who is a pompous ignoramus.

@alcibiade, I agree. Hard to resist, though.

Oops!

You just exposed yourself.

That was said in post #71 by the account user @alcibiade, not @PurpleTitan .

So you are the same account user using @alcibiade but just pretending to be someone else supporting your points and who has a “daughter graduating from Cambridge”?

Lol.

I was right, “You are just self-obsessed and trying to propagate your dogma for some kind of self-fulfilment, irrespective of any corrections/facts you are given”.

MODERATOR’S NOTE: This thread has gone off the rails. I’m closing it. Don’t start another thread on the subject.
