UM Grading scale

How does Michigan calculate GPA for transfers? Is it the same as for admitted students?

Would a 3.25 GPA lead to straight rejection as a transfer student? I’m applying from MSU and i’m an in-state applicant if that helps.

No, I don’t think Michigan weighs transfer applicant GPAs the same way it weighs freshmen applicants. A 3.25 transfer applicant does not have that great a chance of getting into Michigan, unless they are applying from a school like Cal, Caltech, Chicago, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, MIT or Swarthmore, where the grading is known to be harsh. This said, a 3.25 does not lead to an “straight rejection”, so it is still worth applying, but keep your expectations real.
