“So they join other schools that the most competitive scholarships are only open to EA applicants.”

That may be the case. I only skimmed the cite and didn’t see reference being made to either EA.

It said now the deadline for the most competitive scholarships to be November 1 which is also the deadline for EA. Many other schools are like that too.

I think in actual practice Umch has long been known to say the most award money is available for the earliest applicants…I suspect this just formalizes it. It’s likely worth noting that since some merit is need-informed, early applicants would also do well submitting the CSS early too.

^ That is true but they did not say that explicitly.
They large scholarships ($8k-$10k/yr for in state and $20k/yr for oos or higher) are not need based and announced before they receive the FAFSA info.

^^It’s pretty common knowledge in the high school guidance offices…I distinctly recall the GCs for all three kids rounding up the seniors with UofM in their sight and making absolutely sure they had their complete applications in and test scores submitted well before the end of October. But in reality there is not a single reason why someone seriously interested in UofM couldn’t get their application in before the end of October so it’s really a non-issue.
