I was recently accepted EA for UofM CoE and deferred from Princeton. My entire family has gone to Michigan, so I can stay close to home and continue to play ice hockey. Princeton is the better school, but is it the perks of it edge out?

And if you have been deferred, Princeton isn’t an option right now, or maybe ever. Don’t worry about things prematurely. Just wait until you have all your acceptances.
Since Princeton rejects very few early applicants, a deferral is generally bad news – it means that you are not a clear admit (such applicants were admitted), which means that you are within the tiny group on the borderline or the vastly larger group that has basically no chance of admission unless the regular applicant pool is far weaker than anticipated.
