UMass Amherst class of 2024 Early Action Results

Cool. It looks like the only EA applicants who were still waiting had issues with their applications (e.g. late arrival of SAT scores).

But it doesn’t really matter. We’ll just keeping waiting on UMass-Amherst. What else can you do, right?

I assume nobody heard anything today?

Nothing for my daughter … yet ?

Nothing for my son today

Nothing here either…but DS is RD.

nothing here.
I think this will turn into same gap as last year despite assurance of weekly results.

Such BS.

Tomorrow’s headline:
“Admissions Decisions Delayed While University Works on Tracking IP Addresses of Angry Blog Posters”

Kidding! Look, they’re huge and they gave no specific date for release of decisions. Everyone will hear, but I strongly advise that if you are extremely unhappy with this process, you will not be happy with your child at UMass. They are a very large university and they operate as one - this comes with many opportunities, but sometimes that means it’s not the right fit. We are approaching commencement in May with our oldest and I assure you, all information comes when it’s released and no sooner. Embrace it! Otherwise, we would drive ourselves and our students over the edge.

Good luck all - we are still waiting here too and we lived through it three years ago so I promise, we all will!

Hello!
What are my chances of getting into Umass Amherst, UConn, URI, Rutgers New Brunswick, University at buffalo, and university of deleware applying undecided…and if have any college suggestions for me based on my below stats.
SAT:1040
GPA: 3.0
Lots and lots of extra circulars including being a senior leader of 6 clubs and being a captain on 3 varsity sports both my junior and senior year. In addition also volunteering at 3 church groups that had community service trips and volenteering at a hospital for two years because I want to be a nurse but am applying undecided because it gives me a higher chance of getting in, where I hope to switch into nursing my second year.
Umass Amherst is my number one and dream school although it is a reach. Throughout high school I had to miss many school days due to surgeries I had have done. I wrote about that experience in my college essay. I applied to Binghamton, Fairfield, and Drexel and got rejected from all three. The only school I haven’t heard back from early action is mass. the rest are regular decision.

DS applied to Rutgers and got into SOE, SAS and business school New Brunswick
SAT 1430
GPA 4.1
80+ hours community service
Varsity sport with leadership position

instate, still waiting anxiously for UMASS EA decision.

DS applied to 10 schools, all EA, heard from half to date. As for PSU he heard in mid-late Dec and re-petitioned for a different major and heard back again last week with an admittance. Surprised UMASS is on the later side of notifications. Pulling for you all still waiting!

@collegeBask1345 It seems you are looking at more competitive schools than the ones you were not able to gain admission to. In lieu of a flagship, have you considered starting out at a regional school, e.g. Rutgers Newark, UMass Lowell, Penn State Erie, …? The common Data Set for schools will give you an idea of the profile of first time freshman and, perhaps help you target the right fit. If your goal is to end up at one of these flagships, you can easily determine, in advance, how classes transfer. Best of luck to you.

Buffalo and URI are the “easiest” schools to get into off your list.

@collegeBask1345 Make sure you check to see if you can change your major/transfer to nursing after the first year, as some schools don’t allow that. UMass Amherst does not, so you would have to apply as a nursing major.

@collegeBask1345 my son has a 3.72 weighted GPA and 27 ACT at a very competitive MA high school (Newton MA) so he’s not in top 25% of class. He applied to Penn State Univ Park but accepted at 2nd choice PSU Erie. He got into SUNY Polytech with scholarship, Wentworth Institute of Tech with scholarship, and UMass Lowell engineering. He’s waiting on UNH, UMass Amherst and Virginia Tech. So he had a mix of safer options like SUNY and Wentworth and stretch schools given his academics. While he did some clubs and community service, his extracurriculars and leadership experiences were not as strong as yours. The high school also recommended he try George Mason. You should definitely try some options that are “selective” but not “more” or “most” to make sure you have choices. Good luck!!

@marketingmom Tell your son to check the UNH portal. My son didn’t get an email but randomly checked last night and it said “Admit.” We are also OOS, Mass.

UNH will send a physical letter via mail I think. My son received the letter yesterday but no email.

@2024Mama no updates on the portal but @enjin8 will look in the mailbox tonight! TY. @2024Mama congrats to your son!!

Thanks @marketingmom. His letter from UNH (not UMass) was waiting in the mailbox today. Got less merit than I expected but still got some. Really was hoping to hear from UMass today. Oh well. Have a good weekend.

anything?

Sadly, no. Nothing today.
