Where do you find the federal loan result? How much can you get each semester?
Log in to spire.umass.edu and look under estimated cost of attendance, then ‘View Financial Aid’ , then click on ‘2023’ to see loans.
Federal student loan is the same for all.
$5500 a year for freshman
$6500 a year for sophomore
$7500 a year for Jr/Sr
The only difference is, depending on income, some might be subsidized (so interest doesn’t start accruing until after graduation)
Wow, that is really not too much based on OOS tuition 55K each year. First year college, no experience, so where can people get the loan for the rest of tuition if people don’t have any savings?
Private loans or parents plus loans. But be wary of taking on a high amount of debt. UMass is a great school, but would bet OOS students could go to their own state flagship cheaper, or possibly get more merit or needs based aid at a private school
We applied FAFSA and CSS. Do we need to do anything else in order to get need-based merit?
Do you have any recommendation to apply other scholarships outside of school?
UMass is not a css school, so just fafsa. Not sure about outside scholarships
Is there a UMass admitted students post? Someone said there is.
We are attending one on March 27th
So are we! My daughter is so excited
