UMASS Amherst Decisions 2022

We had a similar experience with UMASS Admissions. They pointed to a high number of applicants as being the reason for the delayed release of decisions. They also said the timing of the decision notifications were not linked to the applicants qualifications and the notifications release were random. We asked how many of the 40+k applicants were accepted as of this week and they did not answer. We would like to see some data showing the % of decision releases by date. This would answer the question as to UMASS really being a rolling admissions school and not a "HIGHLY SELECTIVE"one.

For those who have heard already, did you get an email telling you to check your portal?

stats? @nededen

@mrsmontana Yes I did.

Yes. email came in last night to check portal. he was accepted. GPA 4.0 weighted (not sure how to find out unweighted) 2 APs, 5 Honors Courses, 1190 SAT’s, Bio Major. No sports (huge high school) National Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society, Life Scout in Boy Scouts, a few clubs but no leadership positions in school.

@mrsmontana Yes, I saw the email @ around 10pm on a Tuesday

no one really from my town has heard anything & basically everyone applies because we’re from MA. however, people on this & from dif parts of the state are hearing. i know admissions counselors are divided by county in MA & state, so maybe decisions go out depending on where you live. i wouldnt worry until the people who live in your county in MA or state that have the same major are hearing. that’s probably when you should. idk if this is right, but it’s what i’m assuming!

Looking at Naviance Data for my son’s school. only about 33% of the expected admitted applicants have been notified. This assumes that the admissions rate from prior years is applicable. This indicates that only 33% of the admitted notifications have been released. Is anyone else seeing similar notification rate information? Is there any data on how many of the 40+k applicants have been accepted?

How do you view the admissions decision? Do they email it to you? Someone told me it was through SPIRE, but I never received a NetID and password.

U must have, you cannot view your decision without their portal. They do not email you the decision just the fact that decision has been released. Check your junk or else please contact them. This is of utmost importance.

is the portal the same as the “student status page” ?

The lack of notifications and admission decisions after April 1 is unfortunately not a new thing… UMass Amherst is notorious for this and seems to be one of the only schools that can’t get its act together. Last year Dan Rea, a radio host, featured this topic April 7 as many students still didn’t have their decisions. They do not seem to care and have not done anything to fix this issue.

Thanks for your post. UMass Admissions has not changed. We considered it a safety school for my son and I am advising him to accept a merit package from another school.

Rejected from UMass Amherst last night, 3.9UW gpa political science major. visited the school. LOTS of community service. all honors or ap classes. Many ec’s.

@clairemiles You are scaring me, also political science, what’s your SAT?

@WorkingDad Where do you get to that data in Naviance? I’ve gotten to the UMass page connected to my daughter’s school, but I don’t see any information regarding the percentage of applicants who’ve been notified. Thanks.

@clairemiles How do you even get rejected with such a high GPA? Im honestly scared now for my decision

when will all of the decisions be sent out?does anyone know?

This Friday hopefully.

Good luck everyone.

@mistreshijas @WorkingDad might be confusing the admitted student data that guidance updates in Naviance once in a while. It won’t accurately reflect admittance numbers until fall 2018 when the guidance can put in all the self reported results.
