@wheatonmom I did see that in there from last year’s class. Thought there might be something more than on that initial page. Thanks for the clarification.
for those who keep asking, i had a 25 ACT and i think that was what hurt my application.
I was waitlisted. Honestly shook this was my first choice school, how likely is it to be accepted after being waitlisted?
3.1 UW GPA
1320 SAT
I got waitlisted to Isenberg. Pretty shocked as my SAT was above 50th percentile. 1380
Waitlisted from nursing. 3.99 W GPA, 1240 SAT. Not surprised really
Waitlisted from engineering. 3.7 gpa 25 ACT. tons of ec’s. Vp of NHS
Waitlisted to Bio major. 3.65 GPA 1300 SAT
Son was waitlisted for Computer Science. 1410 SAT, 4.2 weighted GPA. Both parents are alumni too! Crazy how selective it is now.
Accepted last week as a psychology major w/ 12k chancellors award + 17.5k total in finaid (OOS.) 1370 SAT, 4.3 W GPA, 9 AP’s taken total. Decent EC’s, impressive essays/letters of rec.
i was waitlisted & i’m honestly shocked. undeclared, 3.7 gpa &1300 sats. all honors & aps, tons of EC’s including NHS, 3 season athlete, 5 years of foreign language, impressive essay, great recommendations, in-state applicant. this is my top school and i really don’t know what to do. so many people in my school got waitlisted as well. no one i know got in unless it was through early action.
Accepted Biology major 3.4 UW GPA 1250 SAT
Hi, sorry if this question was already answered-but do we know what % of waitlisted kids typically end up getting in?
2 percent or less
From the Common Data Set for last year (https://www.umass.edu/oir/sites/default/files/publications/cds/common_data_set.pdf), 6736 qualified applicants were offered a place on the waiting list, 1557 accepted a place on the list, and 44 waitlisted students were admitted.
What % of U Mass students are from in state vs out of state? Admissions wouldn’t tell me when I asked. Thanks!
For anyone who was waitlisted, under forms on the UMass Amherst portal, does it say “please see this page for detailed steps on accepting our offer of admission”
Accepted for a double major of architecture & art (didn’t apply for a double major but the art department contacted me on being able to double major as it was my second choice after architecture). I had a 3.0 GPA with a 27 composite score on the ACT. Multiple things helped me shine in my app. Although I had attended three different schools and struggled at times, I graduated early and wrote an extra essay as to my personal struggles during high school. I submitted a portfolio, and got an outside reccomendation from a well-known architect I had worked with the previous summer. I also wrote my Common App essay about my passion for sustainable architecture and why I think I have the potential to change the world (in a confident but not cocky fashion).
What is Umass acceptance rate this year?
definitely low, so many qualified people from my school have been waitlisted… people with sats 200 pts higher than their average & high gpas. don’t take it personally. if you applied regular or were deferred, i guess you’re at a huge disadvantage. they take a lot of their applicants through early action & cannot take many more by the time regular decision comes… and 2018 is a HUGE class. it really sucks, but don’t worry about it. whatever’s meant to be will be & you can always try to transfer !
