Umass Dorm

Which hall is better Kennedy hall or Cance Hall? I plan on joining an RAP and the ones that I like are in both of these areas. Is Kennedy hall single, corner and z-rooms? Is Cance hall Square rooms and triples?

Not sure how to answer your question, one is a low rise and the other is a high rise. Two pretty different atmospheres to be honest. Kennedy’s notorious for being the craziest of any residential building on campus (3 AM parties, mini-raves in the common rooms, ect.) mostly because it’s a tower full of only freshmen; most freshmen tend to be crazier at partying than upperclassmen. I actually live in Cance right now, and I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere as loud as the towers, but it’s not exactly quiet either. Also, it’d be hard to answer your question cause both of these residential halls are freshmen only, so your experience may differ from mine and will depend on the type of people who are in the class of 2021. And yeah, you got the room designations right for each of the halls.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know where your RAPs are? I remember last year, the buildings that they were housed in weren’t released until like mid-May to early June. Also, are you looking at the Isenberg Fellows in Cance? Cause that’s the only RAP that I know of that’s located there.

Do you know anything about Moore Hall? Are the rooms square only. Are there forced triples?

Moore is a low rise in Southwest. Freshman dorm, don’t know of any forced triples. D lived in Moore and had a great experience. Loved the RAP, made some great friends. There’s a floor plan and description of the dorm here: http://www.umass.edu/living/residence/southwest/moore You can check out each of the residential areas, and each building within an area, on the umass website.

Thanks. D has registered for RAP in Moore Hall. She is not a party animal but certainly looking to make friends and enjoy the social aspect of the campus.
