UMBC vs UMD-CP

Hello ! Recently I have been accepted into both UMBC and UMD for the class of 2023.
For UMBC, I have been accepted into the biology program with a merit scholarship ($9,000/yr). For UMD, on the other hand, I have gotten into the spring semester / freshman connection along with letters of sciences ( LEP’s didn’t accept me, which is extremely depressing for me). This seems like so much of a hassle, although I would love to go to UMD - it has always been one of my top choices, and I was deadset on attending. :frowning:
Summed up, I got a 1460 on the SATs & my gpa was a 4.2W. I’m sure my fairly low stats put me in such a position.

So, if anyone could answer a few questions, I’d truly be so grateful for your inputs!
First - which would be a wiser choice, although UMBC seems smarter all in all, UMD seems to be a more reputable school. Is getting through freshman connections and letters and sciences worth it ?

Also, would it be possible to change my intended major for UMD to be reconsidered from the LTSC?

Lastly- what would one have to do for an offer to be rescinded?

Once again, thank you so very much

Two different schools. I’d go to UM-CP, but it’s up to you. What are you looking for? Sports, campus life, cost?

Freshman Connection will allow you to start college in the Fall and you will be eligible for an internal transfer to Biology.

FC is a first-come/first serve program

Is that $9000 each year, or $9000/4 for $2250 each year? How useful would that UMBC $9000 merit scholarship be to you and your family? What are the requirements for maintaining it each year? Run the numbers for both places here: http://www.finaid.org/calculators/awardletter.phtml

If you were my kid, I would tell you to follow the love. UMBC offered you direct admission for your major, and a scholarship that is more than just pocket change. Go visit again. Talk with the students and faculty in the department. If you would be a commuting student, try the commute. See what you think.
