UMD College Park Scolars Program vs. VCU Honors College?

<p>I was accepted to the University of Maryland College Park Scholars Program, as well as Virginia Commonwealth University’s Honors College. Which one is better overall? and which one is better for doing pre-med?</p>

<p>University of Maryland College Park is an exceptional university – certainly in the sciences. It is ranked as a Tier 1 university by US News and World Reports, and it is generally well known as the state flagship of Maryland.</p>

<p>Virginia Commonwealth University, at least in the sciences, is not well known outside of Virginia. It is rated as a Tier 3 university by US News and World Reports.</p>

<p>I would be inclined to discount the “honors” cachet in making your decision. This will give you priority in course registration, and help you to establish contacts. In practice I expect that you’ll still be primarily in the same classes as the “non-honors” students.</p>
