Hi, I have been admitted to UMD for Fall 2015. I have been offered merit aid by UMBC, a competing state university. UMBC offered me 48k total (12k/year), and I am trying to figure out if UMD will give me any merit aid, based on my stats and how they have done merit aid in previous years. I am an in-state Asian student, 3.83 weighted, 2180 SAT (1450 CR + M) and rank 25/~320. I would greatly appreciate if any students from previous years could post their stats and how much money they received, or if someone could direct me to other threads where such information has been shared. I have searched on these forums and Google already and was unable to find anything very helpful. Thanks!
It’s unlikely. Your stats are very high at UMBC, roughly top 10%, whereas at UMD you are more like top 25%.
UMD gives merit aid to ~6% of freshmen, so the odds are against you there.
That’s what I was expecting, but it still sucks. Especially since I really want to go to UMD!!! Any others with stats, share your experiences please!
