UMD New Student Orientation

Has anyone experienced either the two day or one day NSO? Which one is more preferred? Has anyone done the online orientation? (im leaning more towards that because I will be traveling)

Im guessing the earlier dates are better since it is also a time to register classes?

They save seats in classes regardless of whether orientation and registration are early or late.

Overnight allows informal opportunities to meet other students, stay in a typical dorm.

I’ve known of students do two day, one day; others virtual.

One summer an orientation session was interrupted and ended early bc of thunderstorm and power outage.

If virtual ends up being best, you could also look into moving into dorm early. Kids in marching band, fall sports, some campus jobs like with reslife move in early.
