UMD vs. GMU vs. VTech vs. GWU

I’m in state for both MD & VA (divorced parents) and want your opinion on transferring to these 4 schools. I want to focus on economics and geography, particularly geographic information systems, which needs a good computer background.

which would do you think fits the criteria of:[ul]
[] better location
[] better econ program
[] better geography program
[] better computer science reputation[/ul]

gwu/gmu/umd are great for economics since they’re in dc
vt/umd has a fantastic compsci program
gwu/gmu has a iffy compsci program, i heard. same for geography.

UMD is definitely NOT in DC, so you’d have to metro in, but it does have a good computer science program. Even living right next to it, though, around lots of grads/people going there/people who will be, I never hear anything about econ or geography. They do have a geography major, though, and it mentions geographic information systems on the undergrad academics part of the website (so if that’s not particularly usual, it may mean something to you).

(Similarly, GMU is in Fairfax, so metro again.)
