Umich GPA

My school is going to put my number grade for each course on my transcript. This should help my GPA. But first, in order to calculate my UM GPA, I need to know what the number, letter, point value chart UMich uses is.

For instance:

what letter grade is a 91 worth? Is it worth an A or an A-? If its worth an A- is this worth 3.67 or 3.84 or 4.0…? Please help me by giving me an in depth chart.

Did you read the following link? It’s helpful.
[Office of Undergraduate Admissions: Application Review](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/prospective/prospectivefreshmen/eval_categories.php)
They don’t mind 3.6 or 3.7. They grade your grades in their understanding of rigor of your courses in the way described.

the first thing on the Umich application rating sheet is the students recalculated GPA. I am trying to recalculate my GPA. I have a 3.76 at my HS, but a lot of my grades have been 90-92 and I am trying to figure out what the 3.?? will be for these grades when Umich recalculates them. I also got an 85 in Sophomore year Latin, it was an honors course and it was difficult, but I am trying to determine how that will affect my Umich GPA.

Please, if anyone knows let me know. I can even give you my grades if you want to calculate it for me:

soph:
latin-85
french-91
English-95
Math-92
Religion-94
AP USH-91
Chem-91

junior:
AP eng-90
french-95
latin-95
AP Gov-94
religion-95
art-96
Algebra II/Trig-96

obviously religion and art will probably not count

Your Umich GPA is a 3.91.

3.91 GPA and 1350 on the SAT. Hopefully i can clear the 2000 mark on the SAT when I take it in October.

I know everyone chanced me the other day at 3.76. Obviously nothing else has changed since then but is a 3.91 a pretty big boost to my chances?

Yes, Michigan cares a lot about GPA, and considering the vast majority of candidates will fall in the 3.75-4.0 range, that’s a significant boost.

so with an application submitted by sept 15., a Umich GPA of 3.91, and the previous activities/SAT scores provided what would you evaluate my chances as?

wbsn12 your school does not have two semesters within each school year? It appears you’ve only listed grades for one semester each school year.

grades are for the entire school year. For instance, I took Algebra II as a Junior, first semester and second semester, my grade first semester might have been 94, second semester 98, so my grade in Algebra II was a 96.

Your GPA is really good. Just a question: Your SAT is out of 1600, right? It’s not bad … you could definitely keep it there if you plan on applying early.

yeah so I have the 1350, and a 1970 overall.

Advantages to taking test a 3rd time:
-Will increase math score (currently a 640) to approx a 670
-Will increase writing score
-Strong chance I will be able to go over 2000

Disadvantages
-Strong chance I wont be able to replicate a 710 on my verbal

If Michigan looks at your highest individual cr, writing, and math then it is a no brainer to take it. If they look at your highest single sitting, not so sure its worth taking again. Please advise.

What do you guys think my chances are?

If you push your SAT’s to 2100 then: Safety Match

If not, then Match.

Michigan does not super score.

Apply Early! I can’t stress that enough

Deadline: November 1, 2009
