Prolly do both. UMich is prolly going to be easier since their class size is bigger (5000 some versus 3000 some) and they are ranked lower. The caps are both 1/3 for OOS so no difference there.

FinAid at UVa is really good with AccessUVa. Need blind and no skewing for where you live…a person with parents making $50,000 in Cali and the same in VA, end up paying the same because AccessUVa makes up the parent’s contribution minus the cost of attendence with a combination of grants, loans, and scholarships.

UVa is one of the few publics that offers good finaid for OOS. But, check the UVa thread last spring and you’ll find many 2200’s that were rejected OOS. UMich is a much OOS easier admit. Dunno about their finaid.

One major difference that you should consider is the atmosphere of the schools, including climate, sports, campus culture, size, specialties, and the like.

Bluebayou, I would not say it is much easier to get into Michigan for OOS. It is indeed a little easier, but the difference is not that significant.

In ternms of financial aid, Virginia is more generous than Michigan for OOS students.

Ranked lower? At the USNWR the difference is minute. If you’re looking to major in the hard sciences or engineering, Michigan is much better than UVA.
