Hey guys… biggest problem is weak EC’s, I’m pretty sure UMich is a definite yes though.

so what do u guys think? should i stick with yale SCEA or should i do northwestern or cornell EA because they’re more like matches for me? I really really want to go to yale but I dont want to end up getting denied everywhere and only have one choice (u of m)

hmm… if youre dead set on yale, which i really think is a reach for you, stick with scea, but if yale you think might land you denied, go ED at northwestern for sure

yeah i guess i really can’t do binding stuff like ed to northwestern or cornell because i can’t go without financial aid - i dont know how anyone could afford to pay 50k per year.

and constable i don’t go to those schools - i go to a troy school

I’m happy to chance you. First off, Troy Schools in Michigan is a very good school district - though Troy High is known to be better academically than Athens.

Your 4.0 UW GPA is very strong, coupled with 7 APs in your courseload. 7 APs is about average for the top tier schools you’re applying to and above average for UMich. Your ACT is very strong at a 34, but you seem a bit weak at writing. For your co-op at Delphi, I like it (as well as other admission officers) but I don’t see how it can relate to medicine. It seems more related to engineering. Your ECs are decent, and you demonstrate leadership to some extent.

Overall, you’re a very strong student who has done very well in HS.

Chances:
UMich: Safety match
Yale: Reach
Cornell: Very slight reach
Northwestern: Match

The only thing that would prevent you from getting into Yale or possibly Cornell (UMich and NW are, of course, shoe-ins) is your generic well above average student profile. A lot of 4.0 gpas and 34 ACTs (or SAT equivalent) apply to those schools, and a lot of them get in. You still have a very good shot, but there is nothing extra-extra-extraordinary. (A 4.0 and 34 is extra-extra ordinary)
